Kade Snowden - how many weeks?

The fact he got 5 weeks more than Pritchard for very similar tackles proves that the injury sustained by the victim is key. If this tackle is worth 7, Lima should have got at least 5 and Burgess should have got 12\. No consistency from the MRC.

I'd like to see something like this brought in and also a way to bring the shoulder charge back in, where safe charges are rewarded and the bad ones are at the players own risk. It also gets rid of the different gradings for similar tackles and gets rid of the inconsistency that occurs at the tribunal.

As an example: if Burgess knocks Thurston out with a shoulder charge/careless high shot and the player is taken off injured, Burgess must also be sent off. Thurston gets a free replacement but Burgess cannot be replaced for 10 minutes. Following that, if Thurston cannot play for 4 weeks, than Burgess cannot play for the next 4 times the same team plays. This stops the argument of giving other teams an advantage when a player is suspended. This would carry over to any team a player may change to over time.

If Thurston is injured but can play on, a simple penalty or sin binning occurs depending on on-field severity.

Things like leg-pulling, squirrel grips, fighting all carry varying length suspensions but the gradings don't happen.

Eg. Fighting - 1 week
Leg pull - 1 week
Squirrel grip - 4 weeks

This way players know if they choose to do any of the above, there's no arguments on why someone got 3 weeks and another got 8.

Rep games are the only graded games.

The NRL is a basketcase.

The match review committee and judiciary have no consistency or logic to their trial and sentencing.
The on field refereeing is overly subjective and largely inconsistent and incompetent. Partially responsible for no clarifying and simplifying certain rules (that govern the ruck) and partially due to human limitations.
Schubert and the salary cap oversight has been rubbish, crescendoing in the Folau and Rangi Chase cases.

Of all that the only thing being reviewed is the salary cap. The other three areas publically are not yet labeled a concern to the NRL when they should be.

A lot of us are suckers for punishment when following our team and we can cope inconsistencies and perceived injustices better than most (even we have limits to how much incompetency we can handle) but the casual fan and the potential fan will continuously be discouraged by the subjective weaknesses in our game that damage the entertainment value.

If we are going by injury, not the act itself…then Lima shouldve got nothin.
Watmong played with no ill affect the week after, scoring a tri and sidestepping the deadball line testing that ''dodgy knee'' right out

We shouldn't be going by the injury, but we do.

Do you Guys get that he was suspneded for so long beacause of the fact that he is carrying points from the last time he was supended for injuring someone with a knee lift?

And he was suspended for that one because he was carrying points on a prior incident to that?

Serial Grub. Piss him off

How many weeks did his priors add on? His tackle was no worse than Pritchard's, the only difference was Snowden caused an injury while Pritchard's didn't. I'd actually argue there was more malice in Pritchard's tackle. If Thompson doesn't break his jaw his 7 weeks would turn into 2 and he would not have been sent.

IMO the extent of the injury probably should come into the equation when judging length of suspension…if Ray Thompson can't play again this season neither should Snowden in this case. It was a fair outcome in the end.

I thought it was harsh, I understand 3 of those weeks were carry over penalties and the incident did end a players season who could well have been in the finals…BUT...

It was accidental. Snowden braced himself but was looking elsewhere as the play was over and Thompson was tackled from behind which propelled him forward into Snowden.

We have seen some traditional SC's this year that were designed to cause maximum impact... think Pritchard's hit on Goodwin, Buderus's hit on Fergusson that broke his cheekbone and SBW's hits on Mason and Ryan the other night...in fact the one on Ryan was admitted to be a get square for taking the p!ss out of him on the footy show and was a premeditated action.

When you look at these incidents, Snowdon was unlucky. His had no malice .
