L/O refurb??

Since the doggies are heading back to a refurbished Belmore…I couldnt help but ask the question of whats happening to Leichhardt oval?? Every tigers game there gets a solid crowd & Im sure all Tigers fans would agree it needs an upgrade of some sorts... anyone hear or know of anything??

LO has had millions poured into it over the past 5 years. Compared to where it was in 2004:
- Mary Street stand demolished (safety concerns)
- new Mary Street entry and hill extended, increasing capacity slightly
- Playing surface laser leveled; it is now one of the best in Sydney and is being used by the Wallabies for training
- New lighting towers installed and old ones upgraded with new TV standard lighting + transformer (no need to hire lights for night games)
- Security fencing installed
- Corporate/Media boxes completely refurbished
- the new Legends Function Room (200pax i think) has been built, hosting functions and media events
- A lift installed in the grandstand
- Player rooms refurbished
- Grandstand seating fixed up
- Site surveyed in detail in preparation for future works
- Consulting firmed hired and delivered a report to Leichhardt Council regarding upgrade options
- General maintenance improvements

All this stuff has cost $Millions and LO is looking a hell of a lot better than it looked 5/6 years ago.

i wish they put seats where the wood seats are just make it, that much better!
and permanent TV in the shady end of the ground (toilet block end)

Theyre only using it as a HQ and training ground I believe

I don't think the Bulldogs will be playing any games out at Belmore it would be no where near up to standard.

Maybe they will do a Bunnies and have a Back to Belmore trail once a year at best

i heard also a while ago the bulldogs were planning a return to belmore to play a couple of games a year i think it was after bringing ground up to scratch again.

Welcome sippotiger. I note this is your first post since joining in April 2010.

L/O And C/O are boutique grounds for special games IMO.I like that the few games each of the grounds is an Event for those local / old school supporters.

I also love the fact that these games are usually sell outs.

There is no Easy all in one solution for tigers Home games and I believe the current set up is the best we will see until we outgrow the SFS in a few years.

I'd really like to see any extra $$$ directed at Camp Concord where the team is almost every day.

Belmore won't be used for NRL competition games. Its in a very poor state and will cost too much money to bring it back for the few games it would host. It will be their headquarters though moving away from ANZ Stadium.

if the bring it up to scratch like oki jubilee
some new seats, referbishment of the main grandstand
and general like cleaning up the entraces etcetc

i must admit after our hill its the next best

I find the seating at every ground is cramped - probably an extra inch at SFS, say, but still a pain to get past people. Seating is designed to fit as many people as possible in the smallest space possible.

I find Manly is probably the worst….

Tiger Gran I am most perturbed that you would find yourself outside the bounds of civilisation, at a place like Brookvale Oval. There's nothing but trouble up on that peninsular :smiley:
