OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

I am not a LG hater but anyone signing him for a $1 million is taking an enormous risk. If your a half on that money you either need ridiculous footwork/pace/skills (which LG doesn't), or you need to be a great game manager with strong kicking game etc (which LG doesn't).

I thought he was very average tonight, and I think he has been pretty average in most games this year. I love his competitiveness (he competes on every play), but that doesn't make a million dollar player.

If Luai opens the field up like he did tonight, I think Fainu could go to another level.
What he’s benefiting from in opinion , is our shape on the edges , where we use him as the sweeping player out the back and leave Bula as first receiver down the left .
So he’s getting a lot of try assists from simply being the last man to touch the ball , and basic draw and pass skills.
Look for me , I’ve always been of the belief Latu is the guy. From the moment we signed him I felt like “this kid is our future “ . Watched a bit of Galvin after that schoolboy carnival where got rated the number 1 prospect , but still didn’t think he was anywhere near as good as Latu ( I really value soft hands , and being able to use your hips to make defenders get into positions they don’t want to , which what Latu does when he ball plays ) .
I’m not saying Galvin is shit . Not at all . I wish we could retain him , especially when he’s 24 and fills out to be Isaiah Yeo/ Bradley Clyde . That’s a scary footy player . And he will dominate that 13 spot for 10 years after he moves there , but for me Latu has to be the basket we put our eggs in .
He just needs to get those hammys loose .

again fainu has to get on the field first...

not his best game tonight actually probs one of his worst but he never quits which is a quality a lot of players don't have.

You know, I was watching tonight and by the end had the thought that so far this season he hasn't exactly set the world on fire and done enough to categorise him as potentially one of the higher paid players in the NRL next contract....

Seems a fait accompli his new club will be revealed in time, but to be honest if I were that club I'd be pretty concerned. I don't see much - if any - progress from last season. Mitigating circumstances or not, he isn't better at his job than he was last year.

The worrying thing (for him) is that it is (legally) impossible he has already signed on the dotted line and confirmed his new contract; he must have only agreed in principle, and I don't get the impression there is an overflowing of honour in these dealings.

I remember Addo-Carr was coming back to the tigers and ended up at the dogs. Tigers likely played and used as leverage there, but the issues I see for Galvin are:

1. Wests Tigers are a far stronger proposition in the player market in 2025, no longer pushovers. On the contrary, Richardson appears to have already allocated the money they would've used on his upgrade.

2. His form could see him playing a lot of NSW cup - especially if Latu stays fit and kills it. Worse still, he could get injured.

3. His next club (whichever aquatic serpentine that may be) has no legal obligation to keep his offer on the table - let alone pay him $1M a season - as it cannot technically currently exist.

Frankly, he is looking more Schuster than Fittler right now and I would love to actually know why the Galvins/Moses took the route they did so far out from November 1. I don't think they expected that from Richardson and as a result he took away all their leverage and exposed them.

I'm not upset any more. I don't wish anything bad for Galvin.

But I do think there's a possibly of him becoming a cautionary tale of stage parenting and flat out greed. Would be a shame, but there always has to be a first to lose out to stop the rot.

Galvin in a way was built up from media ridicule for the WT"s . the great hope that someday will save the battling club .It was and is womans weekly gossip mixed with a few chapters of mills n boon to keep the wheels of the machine spinning. Galvin's output won't match his so called million $ value for some years yet . We dodged a bullet if the salary cap is taken into consideration

I’m not convinced, and never have been for that matter, that it is greed related.
The facts are, only Wests Tigers has offered him that money. That offer has now been withdrawn and funds likely well on their way to being re-allocated. So it’s no longer available to them. I think who ever gets him will do so for under a mill as his value is dropping week on week.

Galvin is a talented player and had some nice touches last night. To me, Galvin looks like a second row forward who believes he is a half to maximise his earnings from the game. He lacks the kicking game, defence and pace to be a half. It is Ironic that the next two years WTs will benefit from his services while paying him peanuts. This must really grate on Moses. I hope it keeps him up at night.

The Galvin tag line strikes again. It's said every week. So he is either tanking or just not as good now that every coach knows his game.
Apart from his superb energy he currently has 2 plays.
Atrocious short kicking game
Short ball at the line to backrower.

Not his best game, probably one of his worst

Does anyone really think Galvin will be here next season?? Please the wheels are in motion. The shame is he did not want to stay for what pacific reason and on those reason the club should invest more time and money on.

Ok Galvin did not have his best game last night but he was not the Lone Ranger. It’s not like he is doing a MM and tanking, he is just like most other Tigers player, and that is inconsistent.

My worry about him in 2026, is he will have a legally binding contract with club X in his back pocket by than, so he will not have to impress anyone, so he may start to just go through the motions for his last year with us.
