i noticed last week he returned from injury but does anyone know how he played?

If you havnt noticed im fairly keen for Dywer to play FG

:sign:

Yes mate….actually his second week back

Ran hard tackled hard....missed a few...took the field with no strapping at all...looks a bit bigger too....

Played down the right in his first stint....switch to the left in his second...

Will start this week for Wests against Balmain hopefully gets more minutes to increase his match fitness

He's in Sheens plans, maybe not next week, but he'll get a run this year.

I sure hope he's good to be picked sooner than later. In his two games last year, mainly the cowboys at Leichhardt, he impressed the hell out of me.

Kind of puts a compelling case for Mullaney, as well.

With Fifita being exceptional, Dwyer showing alot when he got a go and Ayshford fitting in quickly, it shows those with talent are old enough if they're good enough. I'd seriously consider Mullaney for a spot against Souths.

So Dwyer would most likely come in at the expense of Moors or Flanagan on the bench? I like the look of him. A shame he's being injured because i thought if he could get an uninterrupted pre season that he could well have hit the ground running in firsts.

Will be good to get him in eventually because along with Fifita, he'll bring plenty of impact off the bench. It's these young guys who could well hold the key to our season, their youthful enthusiam shouldn't be under estimated.

I cant wait to see him in FG again. Once in he'll keep his spot imo.

I can see it now. Fifita makes a barnstorming run up the guts carrying 3 players with him. Quick play the ball see's Lui go wide to Dwyer coming in on a inside angle. Dwyer fends off one and gets a short offload to a flying Mullaney. Mullaney races away for a try. Then jake slots the goal.

Just like what we seen time and time again last year in the NYC. Lui, Dwyer, Fifita and Mulaney. Throw them all in and watch them rekindle some of that 2009 NYC cohesion.

Having Dwyer on the right will really give Lui a go to forward on the fringe and better his options.

Most likely for Moors or Flanagan yes. I suppose we need Moors, although Flanagans been good. But if you or I were coach Dwyer would simply replace the extra back in Brown, Fitzy or Daniella, leaving Flanagan as the extra outside back that can actually contribute in the forwards too.

Have watched him a few times in State Cup now. For mine Mataka has been far superior.

Dwyer was a centre in his youth…

defended there for a time last week....

Smeg that was his second game back this year....since the 20's GF....Mataka is better ATM

I thought 3rd game but I will be interested to see how his form progresses.

Dwyer posseses a better offload but has nowhere near the power in his runs that Mataka has.

Mataka has always impressed me however he seems to be one of those players who will never get a fair go under Sheens, so I bet he ends up elsewhere.

I hear a lot of peeps raving on about Mataka…...and every time I have seen him I have been,well....underwhelmed.

Too many mistaked with his hands and not enough size/grunt.

Dwyer is waaaaaaaay better.

Iam not rated by Tim Sheens ia a very big club and often these club members do very well at greener pastures. Would hate to be 18stone run the hundred in even time and be Fitzys bridesmaid, it would be like being a leg spinner stuck behind Warnie

I'd certainly like to see Mataka get more of a go in FG. Looking forward to watching both him and Dwyer tomorrow, along with a host of other good players turning out for BRET and Wests.

All year he has been carrying 3 or 4 defenders for metres in State Cup. think that qualifys as grunt.

I think they match up on Saturday and look forward to hearing reports

Head to head if they start where they have been…..

cait wait.....

Mataka runs better lines I'll give him that....

Dwyer is good back on the angle but predictable..would get smashed in FG....

Good that we have both quality youngsters coming through all the same....

From what I've seen of them both (seen heaps more of Dwyer in fairness) is Makata runs hard and bends the line, where as Dwyer offers good line running and plenty of offloads. Geez Dwyer gets though alot of defensive work too. Fully fit Dwyer would have more minutes in him i think.

Makata would probably be similar to Moors where as I think Dwyer is the missing element on the bench. A bigger version of Flanagan.

Maybe I haven't seen enough of Makata, but I really like what I've seen in Simon Dwyer.

Mataka will never fulfill his full NRL potential in the current Wests Tigers NRL setup.

He is a great and powerful line runner.

Currently we have one of the best line running backrowers in the world in Gareth Ellis and we use him as a battering ram. Backrowers running angles off an advancing Marshall, Lui & Moltzen is where we were most effective in trials and early season form but lately we have gone back to drifting sideways. Mataka or Akeripa at full fitness would be my impact back rower.

Dwyer is a guy you need to use in your starting side. Than again even last year I had a prefference for Jason Schirnack over Dwyer.

Each to their own

I've seen Mataka run some good lines off Marshall and score tries from it. Games against the Roosters and Eels come to mind here. Why he hasn't been used more is anyone's guess. He got 20 minutes against the Sharks up at Gosford and I saw him warm up alongside Moors. Moors has more bulk to his frame but Mataka is noticeably quicker. Dwyer just seemed to have a knack for drawing in a couple of players and offloading or breaking the line himself in the 20's last year which I really liked. If he can eventually translate that to FG, then he'll go well for sure.
