Latest on Lui

Fully agree with all that has been said
- drinks cruisers
- such a tool and grubby dog he corrected police with that statement!

The germ deserves gaol time, he probably won't get it, but deserves his own medicine! Nrl must dereguster him. With all the hard work the mel does promoting women in league it would be a disgraceful contradiction to allow lui to play anywhere

Mate I drink Bundy OP and don't get into blues with people…. using alcohol as an excuse is pathetic. Accountability Rob.... look it up and man-up. Let's up these charges stick, for his missus sake and their child.

My problem is that the tigers will most likely sack him regardless of the outcome, and its wrong that another club can just come along and sign him. If he's not found guilty, technically it might not be wrong but it definatley is morally wrong

Like most others I think he should be flicked, but unlike most others I would like to see him get a chance with another team under strict conditions. Take his income away and he will slip further, give him a chance and he might turn his life around. He is only young and we dont know what environment he was raised in. To have the responsibility of children at ages would not be easy and to take away his income will not help his kid and wife. Domestic violence is a massive issue but even bigger with our indigenous community, banning him or jailing him will do nothing to help him

I totally disagree … If i get a criminal record I lose my job, what is so different here ?

Indigenous or not, end of the day it appears he laid the boot into a woman. I hope he does time.

People like that don't get better, they only get worse

Isn't it strange when you think about it
If this happened on the field and he laid the boot into the referee he would get a life ban from the game
He does it at home on his wife\girlfriend and people saying he should only get the sack from the club or stood down but be able to continue his career

Is their something wrong with our society ??

Ofcourse he DESERVES gaol time and to be flicked from Nrl! Ludicrous to think otherwise, again look at the women league promotion in the game!
If he isnt put in gaol wot msg r we as a society sending wen u can bash a women but keep ur job and current lifestyle! But if he isn't flicked from Nrl it's weak! Indigenous have all the same opportunities these days, please don't use that as an excuse!

I am all for rehabilitation over punishment, to punish someone and make no inroads in turning their attitudes around is meaningless and counter-productive. However playing for another side, even under strict rules is far from providing any form of rehabilitation. Whether we like it or not, there is a boys club mentality in league and Rob will always be subjected to it, if he was to play for another club, he will NEVER change his attitude.

He should be de-registered by the NRL for the length of his contract with the Tigers as a minimum if he is not sent to gaol (which I doubt he will be). If part of his sentencing doesn't require group and individual counselling along with various other classes, the NRL should enforce this upon him as part of his 'way back' to the NRL.

If the NRL are happy with his progress (he should be independently reviewed) he should be allowed to play again for what ever team he wants (I pray to never see him in a Tigers jersey ever again for the record). I would also hope the NRL force him to take part in those silly NRL sanctioned classes that help explain to some of these meat-heads how to act like a real man and decent human being.

My 2 cents…

While I agree with you 100%, the last part of your message is ridiculous. If you think the indigenous community are given the same opportunities, you have blinkers on. They are still heavily prejudiced by many people apart of our society, including many industries.

They don't make the same decisions as non indigenous but they are certainly given the same opportunities to become better informed as anyone else!
Anyway I won't respond to this part of the topic again, to stay on topic, lui must be deregistered..

Hit the nail right on the head there, Happy! It's all about the value our society places on a person. In this world, people are valued differently according to their status, race and gender. You only have to look at the media and daily criminal justice issues to see the glaring disparities in the value given to people. It's a very sad indictment on our world, but unfortunately, it's the reality.

Also, for those who think banning alcohol would fix the problem of domestic violence (or any violence), let me just say that the solution is not that simple. Whilst alcohol can certainly perpetuate a violent situation, it is rarely the root problem in most of these instances. In Lui's case, I think time away from the game and effective counselling is needed, but that's just my opinion.

I didn't see this before I submitted my previous comment, so just wanted to acknowledge it - great post, Kaiser!

It'd be none of my employers business

senseless violent crime, alcohol is not an excuse. like the vast majority oh here the thought of striking a woman appalls me there is no place for him at this club or any other i hope he can get his life sorted out.A custodial sentence is not beyond the realms pf possibilty

Personally I have to have a criminal check done and consent to future checks being performed. I know they are in the spotlight BUT end of they day you do the crime, you do the time.

In fact the NRL players have a greater responsibility because they are looked up at by kids. Part of the job, if they like it or not. This is their chosen career path ...

Theres just one difference
