Lawrence destined for stardom in backrow

Longer-term, forget five-eight, i reckon Lawrence has the potential to be the best back-rower to ever play the game.

He has all the attributes: size, strength, stamina, speed, ball skills, line running.

Think about Gene Miles crossed with Beaver Menzies with a splash of Cement Gillespie and Wayne Pearce.

Wait until he is 25+

Possibly in his late 20's much like Anasta has moved to backrow
But we would want to have some good replacements at centre first

why only a backrower? Ruben Wiki started in the centres…

Personally I hope to see him staying in the centres for many more years to come.

Leave him at center…he was really strong there again this morning. Later in his career he may lose some pace and move to the backrow ala Luke Lewis but its a long way off.

It will come after he has completed a very impressive career as a dual premiership winning center for the Tiges and many SOO and Test appearances.

Best Centre in the World, destined for greatness as future Tigers, NSW & Australian Captain!

.

I agree, and in years to come, when people talk about great centres, Chris name will be there, he will be held in high esteem, and mentioned amongst the likes of Steve Rogers/Mick Cronin/Gene Miles/Mal Meninga.

He had a whopping game for Aust!!

His defense was bang on….smashed Moi Moi several times and layed on a try for Boyd to seal it.

This kid is pure class and now hits like a monster.

Giddyup!!!

Yet apparently Tonga (who was almost non-existent in today's test match) has the inside running for when Inglis returns.

I wonder what the reason was behind Lawrence and Tonga swapping side for a while today? (around the 65th minute)

U have to be kidding me???

Yeah I think there is a good argument for a move to the forwards in 4+ years, a lot of football has to be played between then and now however.

I think the Gene Miles comparison is a little off - they are, aside from being big centres, very different players in very different generations.

Lawrence is much quicker than Miles and has better ball skills, I think, as others have said, (and I know I am biased) Lawrence is in line to be one of the greatest centres of the modern era.

He is also a PERFECT example to many of the other players who dont have their heads screwed on the right way that if you have a great ATTITUDE you will go along way.

Lawrence is a gem on and off field and deserves all the success coming his way.

Reports are coming out that Tonga has broken some ribs in the game today. So Chrissy might get a chance to start every game on tour!

If he continues to improve as a centre I reckon if will be a looong time before he is moved to another position maybe when he is a lot older and slower perhaps.

Fingers crossed. I thought he and Tonga were both good in Newcastle but Lawrence outshone Tonga against the Kiwis today and his defence was first class.
