The difference with him though, is he's 4 or 5 yrs younger than Farah and with a strong yr in a new position can really push for a new deal. Farah has reached his ceiling with only a yr or two left in his career.

Fair point he has been great since moving into the back-row.
If we had a brain which, we don't we would look to extend him and smooth out the salary over 3 years, but we take the dumb option and try to put pressure on him to leave.

I'm still scratching my head why there wasn't the outrage over him and Galloway being told he's free to leave.

Farah is a more important player and former captain of the club so was always going to carry more weight. It was the bad handling, disrespect shown and time of the year it was done that made it look like a vindictive power play. The issue for us fans is we don't have better replacements for either Galloway, Lawrence or Farah.

You never stop do you?

Why you follow this club is beyond me.

Totally agree with Geo.
I would add, that with Farah stepping down, if Lawrence is in the team (and I imagine he will be) then he should be captain.
In my opinion Woods is still too young and immature.

I agree with Ck and inturn with Geo.

Rowdy would make a sensational captain.

There are a quite number of reasons why Woods would be useless as a captain.

Intersting that someone wants him to shove off.

Im genuinely excited about him for 2016\. I thought he was our best pig when moved into the pack and provides some attacking options and can pull off a big hit.

And if there are injuries in the backline can cover in a pinch take note JT!

Genuinely classy player who took his "demotion" like a man, and has made himself a better player because of it.

Has been Captain material since he was 18 years old. Old head on young shoulders.

having said that I'm sure this is almost a cut and paste from an eerily similar article last year

have to agree with the majority of you.
hes captain material for sure.
and yes, why the hell would the club (or persons within the club) want to show him the door.

He has all the attributes of a captain, the only issue is there may be pressure for his spot in the backrow. Personally I think he will do well, but it is still a bit of guesswork.

The safe option is woods, has the playing cred and seems to be very well respected by the coaches. May be a little laid back to be captain, but Alfie and Kevvie walters did just fine as captains and were very much the jokers.

You need a captain that is not involved with origin ..the name of the game is to make the top 8 a captain needs to be on deck every week with such a young side!

It's probably fair to say our side needs leadership more than most, however most captains of their club end up playing origin footy - it's just one of those things.

JT, Hodgo, Farah, Cameron Smith, Nate Myles, Paul Gallen - just off the top of my head.

Lawrence himself may Captain himself into form, and who knows? might get added to the mix.

Virtually this whole forum wanted him gone before his move to the backrow, so JT isn't on his Pat there.

Not to mention that Rowdy had been shopped around since 2012 both Sheens and Potter asked him to move on…due to the backloading of his contract post-injury.He stayed with no fuss or fan fare ..Moving him to the backrow has given him a new lease on life...

"I'll be there next year and I've definitely got a few more years left in my career and whether that ends up at the Tigers or another club, I'm not quite sure," Lawrence said.
>
"Obviously I'd love to say I'd be a Tiger all my life, but as everyone knows these days that doesn't always happen, you don't always get what you want."

This quote shows the Class of the man...I hope he continues to improve in the second-row...Earns himself a new contract with Us...

He was awful at LC for last 3-4 years (mostly due to injuries), for this period he was grossly overpaid. He is not representative player unfortunately (he is not Lewis :frowning: ), perhaps he could be solid 2nd rower, if he maintains/improves his form, he is probably a keeper @ max $250k.

Unless Lawrence's contract linked his salary to some kind of performance based KPI's, he was not overpaid for those times he could not perform to his pre injury standard. He was getting paid what he was contractually entitled to receive; no more no less. The lack of any KPI's in his contract (assuming there were none) is the club's fault, not Chris Lawrence's!

Only just saw 2cents post… Pretty ordinary.

Went from being our worst centre to our best second rower in the space of a couple of games.

Another season may see him improve significantly again. I would have him on for another two years based on his efforts in the back row.

Not me cb. The only reason he lost form was due to his very bad injury. I advocated his move to the second row a long time ago (and was roundly critisized for my view. I hope he stays as I believe he will become a really great forward. He runs hard ( and fast for a forward ) and can really hit in defence. What's not to like?

I had to admit I was one that wanted him moved on, but I wasn't against a move to the forwards either. He couldn't help his injury, but neither could the club to be honest.

He was a liability in the centres, but has a new lease on life as a backrower. I am happy to keep him as long as he performs. No long deals next time though, two years tops. We've got to stop the BS long deals.

Wish I could get excited by this mickey mouse tourney, I hope all our players come back in one piece.
…and I hope Rowdy continues to shine in the forwards, he is class with a capital **_(C)_** along the likes of Buckets, Skando & Hodgo

The guy is an absolute standout for captain in 2016\. Respected by players and, almost certainly on field officials alike. Woodsy should concentrate on leading our pack and not have to worry about anything else

Looking forward to the Aucland Nines. It's a very entertaining tournament.
A fast and exciting brand of footy.
It's a showcase for all the young talent coming through the ranks as well.
The money's great too. Hope :sign: we win it.
