Lawrence to weigh up future after ruling out Super League move

I understand he has a young family to support so you have to go where the work is. England Chris.

He knows the club doesn't want him. Don't do a Robbie.

It is a real shame, the club looks like offering Benji another deal, but the one club player who sacrificed plenty for the club will not be offered a deal. Benji paraded around in an Auckland Blues jersey while still playing for us, Robbie had the well documented departure, and Rowdy has quietly done his all for the club, not right in my opinion, especially if Benji stays

@851 Do you ever want our club to be in a finals series... the good bloke thing wears a bit thin when there is no success .. sorry Rowdy’s position can be vacated for a young up and comer, the club is in a bind at present and needs an extra space but the club will sign him again that is the way the club operates ! I really do not see what he can offer next season as his position is covered .. but the famous Weststigers retirement fund will kick in !

@Snake I am saying if he is not offered a deal neither should Benji, use their spots for youth. But to offer Benji a deal and not Rowdy, is just plain wrong.
Me I would let both go, but that would be the smart move, so that won’t happen

@851 I agree on Benji the team needs to evolve! Unfortunately the words smart move and the Weststigers will never be seen in the same sentence!

The question is - who is his replacement .......?

You want to sign a young bloke - ok, that is good in theory. Who is this young bloke? Is he any good in 2020? Is he going to be as good as Rowdy in 2020.

If not, I say sign Rowdy .... while I'm all for giving young blokes a go etc. I don't want to end up with the wooden spoon either.... which will make other signings for 2021 shy away from us.

@Russell There are massive amounts of young talent looking for a decent start that are already in the NRL system.. this is what separates the successful clubs from the also rans they identify and commit.. no one will tell me any different it is a matter of recruitment and the people that are doing it .. and might I say money is not the end all the opportunity is the catch ! Signing tied old players when the roster needs refreshing is just LAZY !

Again the question - who is this back rower for next year (better than Rowdy) that you would sign for peanuts - because that is all we have.

@Russell well I suppose with NZ/ NSW/QLD/ Fiji/PAPUA/ ENGLAND there would be someone young and dynamic that would be looking for a shot but I am probably wrong ..Rowdy for a couple of retirement seasons.. you see it is not the money it is the available spot that is all important .. no hooker for next season just saying .

We got Garner who can cement Rowdys spot.
2nd rower isn't a area of weakness for us. We have other areas that need urgent replacements.
Hooker and our forwards are in disarray.
Our strike forwards that were considered marquee signings (Packer, Mattalino) are bust.

We have too many sitting on long term contracts. It's just easier to dump Rowdy with nothing to pay out.

Don't agree at all, sorry Matchball. Take your opinion on board though.

You heard it here first .....Rowdy adds to his try tally tonight

Drops 3 hospital passes instead of 2 ?

Its not his fault he is taller than Brooks .....isn't that who throws him the hospital passes by the way

Here ya go Rowdy. Catch this bedpan.

Was very good today..

One more year for mine..experience and value for money..count when a lot of cap is taken up by other..

I think by the sounds of it we have limited budget as well.next year so you probably take neji and rowdy cheap until 2021

So close but no cigar with that prediction happy

G'day @WT2K: foxsports.com.au need to be reminded Wests Tigers colours are Black, gold and 'white'.

We still don’t get it ...it’s not the money it is the spot , a ridiculous reason for another season he is cheap . A spot in the top 30 is like gold the roster needs refreshing a spot in the 30 gives that ...Rowdy’s days have come and gone that’s life !

@Snake others in the Top 30 can go first. McQueen, Packer, Fonua ect. He is still in the starting 13. Even if he was in the second 13 there will still be space for him in the 30.

It's not that easy just to let the others go first. They have contracts but Lawrence doesn't.
I'm sure we would have signed him again if there wasn't so much money tied up.
We don't have to pay him to leave. Bye Chris.
