League star retreats from Tigers development

Read what I wrote a bit earlier Gary. I suggested that Wests Ashfield would be the best fit for a Wests Tigers Leagues Club. Not only is it one of the best leagues clubs, it's one of the best overall clubs.
With all the dramas that Balmain are having with redeveloping their leagues club, I think Wests Ashfield should be utilized more from an official cspacity rather then these smaller clubs that previously have had little to do with the club.

Yep, Wests Tigers Ashfield. Sounds good.

I believe Wests Campbelltown also backs the Wests Tigers financially, why not through both clubs into the mix?

Definitely Cunno, especially whilst games are being playing there.

Id be happy for Wests Ashfield to be the hub of the Weststigers, instead of thes small time clubs that have no meaning to our great united football club .As for Wests Campbelltown, they are just a pimple on an elephants butt when it comes to the history of our clubs .

That pimple provides financial backing during times of financial pressure for Wests Tigers.

I hope we keep the flemington market site even as a back up, it is in a good location, think it could add some additional revenue.

There is no problem having multiple clubs particuarly if they are successful

It would be great if we could have our own licensed club premises….but really it would need to be something quite major to reflect the JV/footy sides themselves....piddly ex bowlos & markets pubs just wouldnt do it justice

Problem with this idea is that it is very close to Ashfield. Why not sell Flemington and build another Wests Tigers club out Narellan way?

this would be a great idea.
am bit surprised that this has not been suggested to our current main sponsor, and set up a place along the lines of a "panthers'.

There was talk that the roosters were going to build a club at Narellan, would like to see Wests Tigers gazump them and build instead. The likelihood is just about nil, but the idea would be good for WTs supporters out west.

The two little Tigers Clubs lost something like $3million last financial year. Its not gonna get better. Balmain will fold as a Leagues club entity and survive solely as a 50% partner.

There probable only leasing these venues so no capital availible don't know for sure.

For mine despite what Leichhardt Council wants to happen with the site the Rozelle Village development will get approved by the NSW Department of Planning under part 3A. The development will include a new Balmain League club and whilst may not be at the current proposed scale for appartments, reatail will still be far bigger than the greenie lead council wants ad will be a very viable development.

Balmain leagues supporters should be very glad that the project was kept in the list to be decided by the NSW Department of Planning and not handed back to be decided by Leichhardt Council.

Hey guys thank you for sharing this great post with us. It was truly very informative.

It's not as simple as blaming greenies for the delay in re-developing the Balmain Leagues Club site.
The aborted State Govt Metro public transport hub at Rozelle has left the Club in a difficult position with a lot of residents and local businesses justifiably opposed to the proposed scale of the re-development
