You are wrong!!

Balmain has ONE seat on the Board - Wests Ashfield (aka HBG) have presided over the current mess with blinkers on - and are finally getting their fingers out and taking some corporate responsibility to INDEPENDENTLY review the WT Board and management before it is genuinely too late to retrieve the brand!!

This has NOTHING to do with Balmain Vs Wests!!!!

Tony Andreacchio who is a Western Suburbs aligned director acknowledged that this is the FIRST GENUINELY INDEPENDENT REVIEW at arm's length from the WT Board he has been a part of through all previous such exercises!

Meaning - the previous reviews were directed by the WT Board while this one has finally been commisioned by the HBG who have allowed WT to run its own race....

Wake up old mate!!

It's set up complicated for a reason........to ensure the legacy of Wests & Balmain within a tight knit structure including some of the main income streams that is the clubs.

Obviously it's non binding but definitely they having initiated it are looking to get the maximum benefit from it.

Remember to, my understanding is they have been looking to get John Dorahy types on board...........preferably with a connection to the parent clubs or the WT for a while but suitable willing candidates are not readily available.

Do you not think that a Ben Iken type football operations review would have been more useful.

Hahaha - Dorahy has joined the Board already!

But the narrative of his connection to the parent club is questionable!!

Joe Cool came from Wests Wollongong (NOT a local junior) - and after just FOUR years at Wests - he played for Manly - Illawarra and North Sydney (+ Hull KR)!!

Hardly a dyed in the wool Wests Magpie...

There is some connection.

He played 6 years with us 102 games more than anywhere else...........unfortunately everyone played for Manly back then that was any good.

You missed my point.......the club has been looking to add further to the board with that type of candidate for a while..........but there aren't many suitors.

Sporting organisations with fluid changes to their talent streams with coaches and players often change tack into a plan which isn't performing early......better early than late.

The management cannot be blamed for the big 4 fiasco, nor the Cleary one, both plans were affected externally.

But I totally agree there was a big mistake made by letting Sheens take on the head coaching role........it was a massive loss losing him from pathways and the GM role. A loose loose for all parties.

I will add I hope the reviewers pick up on any external attempts to undercut the club and possibly add a remedy.

These are exactly the types of questions we should be asking. We talk about players all day long needing to have certain skills, yet we seem to give their bosses a pass.

The talent on our board is 100% our problem. There is no talent there. It's bush league at best

He didn't stay a long time but his heart has always been with Wests. I met him at a Wests reunion a few years ago and spent about 15 minutes chatting with him. He said he was offered unbelievable money by Manly (more than double what he was on) and went back to Roy Masters and said he'd stay if Wests could pay $6k a year more. Masters said Wests had no money and couldn't afford to pay him anything more and told him he'd be mad not to take the Manly offer. Reluctantly, he did but said his heart stayed at Lidcombe. He attended most reunions I've been to well before he was offered the WT Board position.
