Liam Fulton signs new 3-year deal

cktiger,,GREAT POST mate!! REALLY WELL SAID!!! A HONEST OPINION!! I love this site!!! WE are ALL TIGERS and ALL want the SAME THING!!! WE ALL have different OPINIONS, but no one is wrong and no is right!!! But,,we are ALL TIGERS THROUGH and THROUGH!!! We hate the losses and CELEBRATE THE WINS LOOOONG and LOUD!!

In the past signing a three year deal would result in you being shopped around within six months,I would like to think things have changed.

Anyway, I think its a good signing, give us lots of experience, versatility and I would imagine he keeps a smile on the faces of the people around hom when things get tough. Theirs always a place for a player like Fulton, you know what you will get every week

Fair dinkum you lot amaze me we sign a bloke who in my opinion has done everything this club has asked gone overseas when we were over the cap plays every game 100% plays injured is a club junior and always puts his club first, you all screamed ya hearts out when we let go Gibbs (I was one of them fans) you all screamed when we let go of rhino and Ryan (I wasn't one of them fans) now the club resigns Liam and you are still carrying on that they should have given him a 1 year deal there is just no pleasing you lot, Stryker if we resign Farah will you be opposed to the 4 year deal that has been put to him because let's face it he has been at the club all his career played rep footy captained the side similar to Liam Fulton, like most of us fans we will be over the moon if robbie signs up again just like everyone is excited that Liam resigned, except for a minority…...... Go the tigers

First of all Mr Guest, how about you come from behind your anonymous veil so we can see who we are talking with?
Secondly, I am not critical of Liam as a player. He is one of my favourites. If he had 15 kilos more, I would want 10 of him in the side

My point was this deal ensures Fults a contract at this club for four more seasons. Does he deserve it? YES. Should we have offered him it? IMO NO. We have had some good hard working forwards in this club who try hard but ultimately are over run by more aggressive and larger players. We have some young guns coming through who fit this mould. There are also players in the market (Pappali for example), who I would like to see here. If we offered Liam a one year contract with a second year option, that would ensure he was here for at least 2 more seasons. We have given him 4\. By that stage IMHO he would be struggling to hold a place in the top 17.

As for Farah, this is the sort of contract extension I would hope for him.

Stryker, it was announced today, PAPPALI signed with Parra for 3 years. If FULTON can sign for 3 years…Well,,WHY CAN'T FARAH??? The Club has given him a contract worthy of signing!!! I was brought up to FOLLOW YOUR CAPTAIN!! If FARAH is looking at 20 Grand extra,,,PLEASE after TAX,,,worth around 3 Grand!! TIME FOR THE CAPTAIN TO LEAD and put this "will he or wont he sign" to bed!!!

3 factors were taken into account to offer Fulton another 3 years.

1) He deserves it.
2) He is a great "footballer" whilst not being brilliant over overly athletic.
3) He is one of a few team men the tigers have…."will do anything" for the team and is a great bond..Every teams needs a Fulton or Gibbs type player...

Fulton signing on is a great thing for us yes we have great juniors coming through but they need good leaders and players they look up to help them when they make first grade. Not to mention he deserves the reward after being one of our best last year and everything he has done for the club including going overseas when we were having cap difficulties. Even if he does have trouble finding a spot on the field (and I'm not saying he will have trouble) Liam will be great for us in terms of a mentor role.

Agree with you - but do we need them if they are stuck in reserve grade the last 2 years they're here?

Seems to me that this is Potters first statement on the type of team he wants to build and the values he is going to reward. By values I mean, hard work, loyalty and good role models for the juniors coming through will be rewarded. And I think that is a good thing for us right now after all the crap that has gone on for the past 2-3 years

Seems to me we are also rewarding mediocrity .
As much as he is a favourite clubman he would not make any of the top teams run on packs, and I thought the aim was for **_us_** to be a top team.
Try as I might I just can't see him even in our top grade past next year at best….

Let 2 tries in tonight and let his fair few in last year too. No doubt he will go on his usual 4-8 week good form run at some stage this year but is that enough to earn another 3 years?

Not sure what it is with Liam but he frustrates me. Runs great lines and works hard but misses crucial tackles at times.

No he wasn't great tonight , but he will show up when we need him

As I said with Anasta in another thread , when your forward pack is playing off the back foot for 65 minutes someone like Anasta or Fulton is not going to shine

Hey Stryker bite me I will stay behind the wall as long as you continue to bag our players papalli you are kidding mate give your self one under your chin what has this bloke done

So now long term we have Moltzen Blair Ayshford and Fulton signed up.WOW..who makes these decisions ?

We can still keep blaming Sheens I suppose.

How is this different from the 3 year contract Bryce gibbs signed 4 months prior to his release?? this is the point 6 months 6 years 12 years contracts at the tigers mean nothing. You think Wayne Pearce was stupid in having his son play for the roosters. this club is financially and ethically bankrupt. What happens if we finish in the top 4? we just give the home ground semi then sack the coach? Mick potter how many of you remember the allan jones years? This is over

LOL wake up to yourself you coward.

I said blokes LIKE Papalli, or Tariq Sims, or some of our young guys who are big and aggressive. Our pack needs an overhaul and I dont see the resigning of a fella, no matter how dedicated he is, for the next 4 years who isnt of this mould as moving forward. Our forwards get trampled most games and Liam is no exception. A powerful, aggresive pack allows our talented backline to shine. We have not got one and we need to start building it now.

Man I just cant understand anyone who thinks that resigning Liam is a bad idea. Weve lost Elis and Anasta's defence is dodgey at best and we've all seen the Blair turnstile in action. Why wouldnt we prioritise resigning our most effecfive defender. If Fulton left the tigers he would fit into any forward pack in the nrl. At least with Farah and Fulton and the sause we have a solid neucleous to build a damaging pack around.

Our most effective defender let 2 tries in last week. And its not the first time he has in his career. Dont mistake effort, workrate and honesty as effectiveness. Liam is a good footballer and i'd have him in my team anyday as long as the rest of the pack is physically dominant which we aren't, and thats where the issue is. Besides, i dont think many (if any) are complaining that he re-signed…....its the 3 years which is odd.

He got caught slightly out of position a couple of times - not totally unexpected given he's playing with new players and under a new coach. Didn't see him drop off too many tackles.

3 years means nothing - he'll probably be at Cronulla by August…
