**live game feed** vs the Dogs

What is going on with our marker defence?? Why is it taking so long for our defenders to get up off the ground and either get back to marker or back into the line. Also they often stand back at marker in the middle of nowhere, I’m surprised they aren’t getting pinged more often. There is no urgency by our defenders to get up or to turn around.
We need to be more aggressive in the tackle and in the contest on the ground. Any team that plays fast will roll straight through our middle.

I didnt actually catch the game as I was playing my own sports.

But how did Tulagi and Blore go?

Blore’s best game so far - made a few good hard runs and was more involved. A couple of errors in him still, but starting to look like an edge player. Tuilagi didn’t get a lot of time but had little to no impact at all with his efforts.

Great to hear about Blore, not too much about Tuilagi - I am hoping the best for him.

Tuilagi had two stints in the second half, which is kinda bizarre. His first might have been 10 minutes, also bizarre.

Yes he came back on when we had an injury or HIA for Luc I think it was.

Tuilagi was fine.

It looks like the Dogs fans that were commenting so frequently about their club signing rumours on this forum, are somehow absent today for some reason!

Next year they’re adding Vaughan, JAC, TPJ and Burton. We’re adding 2 ESL players.

Somehow, I don't see those players working out so well for the dogs. Rest of their team is garbage & they're also losing Meaney to da storms.
Much the same from us next yr as well. Gonna be a loooooong one...

We were after all 4 of those players so we must have thought highly of them.

Tigers were never linked with Burton? We weren't after Vaughan either, the player himself said Madge rang him up to see where he was up to.

What does that mean see where he was up to . Why ring him if you’re not interested or are they best buddy’s

May have rung him to see his headspace. Hard to know with a player who has just been suspended and had his contract torn up, dragged through the media.

If I inspect a house, does it mean I want to buy that house, or does it just mean I'm generally in the house market and checking out my options?

Putting my house on the cowboys next week,

I don't know, a lot of folks were confident Dogs would get up today as well.

Well Cows have lost 7 in a row and we are specials for playing teams back into form. We did that for them at LO last time we played them

Bulldogs had lost 12 in a row.

Were rep players. Moses Mbye was a rep player too; James Tamou. Technically Chee Kam and Nofo are rep players.

I lm sorry man I don’t know. I’m just fed up.
it’s just so hard to be positive when the team plays like such utter crap for so many years and the club can never recruit any talent whatsoever.
I feel so over it. I was telling my wife today during the game I really don’t know what compels me to watch every week and give so much energy when most weeks it just ends in sh!t. In this case, even though we won.

Don't think too hard on it or you might realise that all spectator sport is ultimately pointless. You don't get anything tangible for a win or a loss, it's 100% emotional and cultural gambling. That's how I get by. Like the kid says in the Matrix, "there is no spoon".

Bulldogs have recruited well unfortunately. It will be a real test for the coach who has been given a pass this year - but can't forget how he walked out on Manly when the pressure was on.

Some folks thought the Dogs recruited well for 2020 - Corey Allan, Hetherington, Flanagan, Cotric, Wadell. I think they all turned out horribly; arguably their best 2021 signing was Ava Seumanufunguy.

The reality is you can only judge recruitment in hindsight.

Exactly.
Even if you win the comp. it all starts over again in a few months so what's the point?
It's best not to ponder on it.

Allan was an origin player.
He's so bad though.

Every game I've seen this year, he's been a dud.
Slow, bad hands, just not up to it.

Might be a Mawene Hiroti level winger but yeah he hasn't worked out as well as they'd probably thought.

The others also.

Cotric has been injured but yeah not delivering.
Flanagan, jeez.. he's young and likely off to his 4th club.. in England.

This isn’t sour grapes, players like TPJ and Fox would have been great for us and I’m disappointed we didn’t get them, but I think we have the basics of a good NRL squad that just needs a few players to really make us competitive, they’re way off that.

I agree and I think those players would have been good for us in the context of the total roster. For example, Tigers have some really good young talent recruited and coming through; Bulldogs haven't shown anything in that regard for several seasons. Perhaps their best junior player is Averillo and he hasn't come on at all.

Tigers have a bit of talent in the backline (Doueihi, Laurie, Brooks on his good weeks) and would do well to have a quality speedster finisher. Bulldogs are currently custard 7 through 1 and are going to have their work cut out to even get decent ball to JAC. Their best current back (Meaney) is leaving for the Storm.

I'm borderline on TPJ. Bulldogs lack consistent and experienced go-forward, same as Tigers often do, so adding an inconsistent power player is possibly not the next best recruitment decision.

Add JAC TPJ Vaughn and Burton to those players and that is looking like a much improved roster. Those players would all make a significant difference to our side. Burton is a special player I would be very unhappy about losing him if I was a Penrith supporter.

I'm going to reserve my judgement on Burton's impact. He's definitely good, as a footballer, no doubt. James Tedesco is also good, but Tedesco alone couldn't get Tigers to the finals. I hold grave concerns for clubs that have 1 attacking option and focus their entire attack through that single dimension. Defences aren't dumb, they adapt pretty quickly.

Those signings would probably make a difference to Tigers' roster as well, but as evidenced yesterday, Tigers roster already substantially better than Bulldogs. A comfortable win despite how bad Tigers were. To put that in context, Tigers were 4th last heading into the round and we still cantered past the Dogs.

Part of my brain yesterday held that eternal Tigers-fan concern: "of course Tigers can lose it from here", but my rational brain, watching the match unfold, I thought Tigers were never genuinely threatened. Arguably one of our worst performances, gave up a bunch of 6-agains, playing with Moses Mbye at fullback and we still managed 28 points, won by 12.

Who is more sad and worried right now - Tigers fans or Eels fans? And Eels are definitely playing finals football in 2021.

Yes, I thought we always looked in control despite the errors. If Chee Kam takes that very catchable pass we win 34-6.
