Live Game Discussion
I actually find myself much more tolerant of Roosters these days.

Maybe all the injuries they had last year made me realize that everything doesn't always go their way and I actually liked the way they played under adversity at times, something this team very rarely if ever is able to do.

My top 3 most despised teams are:
  • Souffs (and I can never see that changing), lowest of the low since 1909.
  • Parramatta, the slimy scumbags, especially so in more recent times due to parasites like Moses, Matterson and Gutho, who I once liked as a player, but since being made Captain of the side has become a completely unbearable arse wipe.
  • Penrith, who I didn't mind prior to Cleary doing the dirty on us and going over there, making me realize that they were all nothing but a bunch of lying, disrespectful, cheating Tiktok dancing low lifes.
shame on you 4 finding a soft spot 4 them.lol

Probably should get a stint in the cooler for that.

As bad as the refs decision was to not send the Luciano try to the bunker, something that has been overlooked is why the heck didn’t we challenge the decision? The rules state you can challenge a no try decision in those circumstances. You would think that would be a captains first instinct. Leadership let us down yet again.

Do you think it would have made a difference if he actually got up and claimed it a but harder? It was a bit like an appeal in cricket when the keeper just throws in a “howzat” and an over later they realise it was actually out.

Maybe a bit of pressure on the ref would have made him send it upstairs.

💯
No self-respecting captain would ever just let that slide!
See Gutho in the Eels game?

It was challenged but ref said no. [After watching it again the ref was smashed by verbals, unless I'm seeing things]

Great summation.

On a positive note we are only 2points behind the Roosters
On a negative note, we are behind every team on the ladder. The only shining light is Warriors were limited to only 2 tries. I can see our improved defence keeping us in some games this year, particularly if our fullback can show a little more urgency and determination.

It’s a valid point nrlsurvivor. Given that we were going into a game with a 3 game novice ref, a discussion with coach and the 5 captains should have addressed the best way to manage this situation. Why not get Cam Smith to run a half day workshop on “how to manage different referee styles.” Or at least have a couple of comebacks, like “you better go to the bunker on this one, you’ll look pretty stupid if you’re wrong?” 😝

If the ref said no to the challenge then he shouldn’t be allowed back in first grade ever again. It’s stated clearly in the high level dumbed down version of the rule book.
Madge did his best not to get fined and tactfully gave it to the 'system' and the ref. It's the NRL ref boss Analslie who gave us a bum steer. He admitted they stuffed up but doesn't help our cause.

It actually annoys you even more because the apology, or clarification, whatever you wanna call it, comes across very condescending.

Yeah I though Annesley’s response was fairly flippant. He didn’t really apologise to the Tigers or Madge and seemed to focus on the wellbeing of the referee and effect it had on him.

I mean this potentially has an impact on Madge’s employment and if it were a different club like South’s or the Roosters I’m sure the response would have been far different and far more apologetic in tone.

Yep. I mentioned that yesterday. Madge’s job is hanging by a thread and he has to deal with that incompetence
