Live game thread vs the Cowboys

Fired-up Wests Tigers officials have told the NRL they will “explore all options” after they were denied victory in the dying seconds of Sunday’s game against the Cowboys.

The Wests Tigers were privately fuming over the series of decisions that cost them the game, with the club now looking at their legal options. The club is yet to determine whether they have grounds to an appeal which would force the NRL to overturn the result and hand the club two competition points.

The NRL was in damage control on Sunday night with seething Tigers officials seeking answers after the Cowboys were awarded a contentious penalty by the bunker for Asu Kepaoa allegedly running Kyle Feldt off the ball from a kick-off with one second remaining on the clock.

They are arguing the “game was over” and the result at the time of the referee blowing the whistle was a victory to the visitors.

However, sources with knowledge of heated discussions told the Herald that the NRL has told Tigers officials that the referee blew one whistle and was not considered the full-time whistle.

The Tigers are also questioning why the Cowboys were allowed to challenge a decision when there wasn’t a stoppage in play - and if there was a stoppage it was for the full-time whistle.

The NRL has privately conceded the bunker decision to penalise Kepaoa may have been the wrong call.

Deflated Wests Tigers stand-in coach Ben Gardiner said “the game was over” before the bunker intervened to gift North Queensland a great escape in a finish that left rival coach Todd Payten to admit “we got one tonight”.

If the NRL is to have any credibility now or in the future the result of that game should be overturned, two points awarded to the Tigers for their win and both the ref and the bunker sacked, never to be seen again for not knowing their jobs, their lack of impartiality should be considered by our major sponsor also as a possible law suit against those two conspirators

The time to say something was at the presser.

Many of us have been super critical of the team for weeks/months/years, but today they did enough to win and they had it stolen from them. It was on the higher ups to tell Gardiner, "mate we will pay the fine, make a fuss and make the officials squirm."

They haven't just let the fans down, they've let the boys down more than anyone. The club should have had their backs!!!

Sorry my brower wont copy.

The clown in the bunker should be jobless , wot a disgrace
And not just jobless for a week, but indefinitely. We would lose our job if we f'ked up like that, and not just for a week.

Plus, this knobshite was the ref of Origin. Supposedly the best the league has?!? The league is gone if nothing happens.

Well ladies and gentlemen,

If this does not galvanise us as supporters, nothing will. The fury that I felt and read in other people's comments shows me we might have differences of opinions, but we are all passionate Tigers supporters. James Graham's call about the shotgun and balaclava was brilliant. What our players desperately need to do now is play with the same attitude next week. I loved watching them use the ball and backing each other up.

Already put it on NRL's twitter, but thank Christ that Klown is just a sports official and not an oncologist or something that relies on people not making fundamental mistakes routinely.
Yea aye . His incompetence is beyond belief really .
IMHO I think any referee that was refereeing during the Sutton regime needs to get the arse .
They all have no confidence and make decisions based on micro infractions .the new generation , whilst prone to mistakes , don’t tend to lend themselves to this type of howler .
Klein really does have form on this . And so do the Suttons and thier whole crew .
Most can cop a bad call , but the bunker was literally created to stop the howler . Not deliver the worst of all time .
Klein at the very least panicked . At the worst he’s a cheat . There is no inbetween and no real course , for anyone to argue otherwise .

When I heard it was the same ref as origin it all
Made sense … that *ric* has just about ruined Rigby League for me!!! He is a dead set disgrace

Not to forget the Luciano try that wasn't even sent upstairs in a game we lost by 4... Did we ever even get an apology for that lol?
We didn't get an apology, but we were told the referee was REALLY upset he didn't refer that to the bunker. We had to feel sorry that the ref was upset.

The club needs to fight this one to the death and demand a public announcement of the sacking of the entire match officials for today's game, the announcement of 2 competition points given to us and complete overhaul of the officiating of the game. The outcome of how hard we fight this will either galvanise us or make fall apart even further. Lee, know is the time to use your power and knowledge. I've just about had it with this shit game tonight as well as the bias towards certain teams and the NRL narrative which we clearly aren't a part of.

This has a big bearing on fixed bets. The wooden spoon betting is being influenced by such a bad call. someone could be helping their bet along.
we should challenge this decision through the courts, if the NRL don’t over rule and award us the 2pts.
Since the game was over, the only real bearing was the result. Stop apologising for the Referees and start apologising for you continued inactions.

This where I 💯 disagree .
It all is where the issue is . From the way time was stopped , to the way it was allowed back on , to the way AD was clock watching to take his kick , to the offside at the kickoff , to the indiscretion in general field play , to that somehow being a penalty .
That whole sequence is applicable .

From watching the replays, the time situation is a non issue, it was done to the letter of the law. As per TV time: 78:30 try scored, 78:33 try awarded and clock stopped. Clock resumed once try was confirmed, 80 seconds (actually 82 seconds) later clock stopped as per rules for conversions (79:55 on TV, but 6 seconds on the official clock from looking at the scoreboard). Ball hits the upright at 79:56 (so with 5 seconds left on official clock), and the ground at 79:57 (so 4 seconds left). Clock stopped at 80:00 on the TV clock (but 1 second left on the official clock as shown with TV clock being 1 second ahead). Clock updated on TV to reflect correct time. Therefore clock was accurate.

The rules breaches were in the accepting of the challenge when there was no stoppage of play, and the incorrect ruling of obstruction.
