We are playing the next 3 weeks against some of the more fancied sides in comp. If we continue to keep the agaisnt to under 1-2 tries but lose is that a win in terms of the teams development?

No because they are still losing. When this team goes out and strings more wins together than losses we are developing.

I would say yes, if you look at every game as if it was a grand final, you have to lose one before you can win one, apparently.
