It’s clear Lolohea has failed to meet IC’s expectations of him thus far….he is behind a solid footballer in Thompson for the FB role, he has no chance of beating out Reynolds/Marshall for the #6...so where to from here...languishing in ISP is not good for him or for the WT considering he is on about $500k p.a.....?.

I would shop him to Manly who are desperate for a half... eg a player swap for Lolohea.....thoughts...

Do you really think they will trade a wrecking ball offload machine for a reserve grade player?
 
I opened this thread expecting to see a statement from the club stating he had been let go…........really hope he comes good!

When you've got trouble with your cap then yes I would

I'd be happy to take any Trob brother, not DCE but I'm sure they wouldn't want to get rid of any

So who else has value besides Walker and Marty they can get rid of?

I'll take Joel Thompson as well, that's all
 
Why would Manly want a swap to free up cap space if Lolohea is on big money (I doubt he is personally). They would end up in the same position.

I had high hopes for him but he seems to have fallen off a bit - appears to be carrying an injury. I think he’s still a chance to come good.

Marty has that line wrecking impact that would make a difference here.
I would expect us to take a dent in the cap. Would love Two PoW back but only at the right price, IMHO 600K. We may have to loose someone as well. I would happily trade Lolohea + Tim Grant for Marty Taupau.

Lets see what happens.

Benny and Russ would pick on him.
He'd be the biggest but not the toughest in the pack and his ego is as big as his biceps.
 
Stuff Manly let them dig their self out of their hole why should we help them, same with the Bulldogs.
Make both clubs suffer for years and years.
 
We need to be smart with this. If we offer up a 5/8 then that means walker goes back to centre.
With Suli coming into their top team you would think he picks up a centre spot.
Brian Kelley I who I would look at taking from Manly.
Manly have been hesitant with him from the start of the year with a lot of talk Tom Wright is being groomed as a centre.
I know they are short depth in their backs but I don’t think they see Kelly as a long term option.
Us on the other hand he could be the perfect transition player after Kev off contract this year!
 
Obviously Manly have to swap a player of a higher cap hit for Lolohea if it were to happen. What would Taupau be on - 600? I think Lolo is on 350 so that would be a good deal for them except that, the way it stands at the moment, Marty is a lot more valuable.
Like a lot of people, I would love to know what's really going on with Tui. My hunch is it is what has already been mentioned i.e. poor form and a niggling knee injury, as well as a lack of fitness which equals ISP and time off to get the knee right. I don't think Ivan has given up on him yet.

Marty would be on close to 750 possibly even 800 on his backloaded contract
 
I don’t see a future for him here, he’s not fit/agile enough for fullback and he’s way down the pecking order for 5/8.

If Manly take him and pay his full contract, that’s a win for us. We could upgrade Heleta to a minimum wage top 30 contract and not lose much.
