Blind eye to that for sure!!The NRL had better ensure that the $250,000 legal fees get counted in Melbourne's salary cap for 2026.

It probably couldn’t go on the salary capParra must smell a rat. I just read that storm offered 750k and they still rejected it. I find that strange. I thought 750k would be reasonable and build in a clause he cant play against Parramatta.
Part of that $750k was $400k of Mattersons contract, he would have to agree to moving to the Storm for 2026....he didn't agree!Parra must smell a rat. He will get to the Storm imo in the next 6 months. Eels want a suitable player so Storm will work carefully to find one that Eels will agree to (Jack Howarth, Shawn Blore, Will Warbrick the only ones I reckon could get the deal done that are realistic).Part of that $750k was $400k of Mattersons contract, he would have to agree to moving to the Storm for 2026....he didn't agree!
Ryan Matterson is the NRL's poor version of Ben Simmons. He'll stay for the pay, but doesn't want to play. At least Ben Simmons last contract was $177m, so he won't be laying bricks.Ryan Matterson is a bizarre man. Seems to be driven solely by money and doesn't think in any other terms. Parra don't want to play him, he's offered a career lifeline at the best development club in rugby league and he says no? Wtf. Basically he's said, "I don't have to work for my money here. I can just collect my paycheck. Melbourne will work me hard."
No, but that is understandable, West Tigers were being screwed over then which apparently is completely acceptable.Who Cares about Parramatta or Melbourne or Matterson??
Lomax losing is the best news period it will stop other players from dishonoring there agreed contracts. Pity this did not happen last year.
. . . . . . . or finals games.Parra must smell a rat. I just read that storm offered 750k and they still rejected it. I find that strange. I thought 750k would be reasonable and build in a clause he cant play against Parramatta.
I get that, but Lomax took the case to court and his solicitor made a lot of noise about the contract being unenforceable. They agreed on a deal where the Storm would take Ryan Matterson off their hands for 2026, saving $400k in CAP, plus $300k compoensation...The only problem was Matterson said NO to moving to the Storm
Would not be too surprised if that's correct. That email to Abdo sure looked suss, and that there were probably several others around. The conversation that the email notes would seem to be just 1 conversation of many between NRL management and Melbourne Storm without involvement of the club with the lien on Lorax's immediate future.I wonder if the NRL got Melbourne to back away so that the NRL ‘involvement’ wouldn’t become public in any court documents 🤔
It was always Lomax v the parramatta, not storm v Parra. The legal fees are owed by Lomax so if storm is covering his costs they should go towards the cap. However, Lomax isn't signed to storm so I don't think they would. In saying that though, these costs can be attributed to trying to sign a player. For example, when dragons flew Keaon in a helicopter, I doubt those costs went into the cap.It probably couldn’t go on the salary cap
wasn't storm just paying for his salary as part of salary cap relief for Parramatta but didn't want the playerConfirmed
Ryan Matterson refused to go to Melbourne.as part of the deal.
Matterson picking himself over what’s best for his team … no you wouldn’t read about it ! Also Matterson picking maximising his dollars at all points … you wouldn’t read about that either !!Part of that $750k was $400k of Mattersons contract, he would have to agree to moving to the Storm for 2026....he didn't agree!
