This is the one I thought of first up , yes deep kick off player catches it passes it to a prop on the charge and back , big hit , just what the game is all about , butIt’s not a penalty as such, teams can still kick long but have to suffer a 0 tackle.
I don’t mind it.
I have felt the first set of the game feels too quick and this gives the receivers a chance to make territory before giving away their first possession.
I wonder though where were all the kick offs received that had the horrible collisions come about?
And second to that where was first contact made?
They’ll probably let it go for Origin like they do everything else. That will take away from the Origin spectacle. So much of the hype is based on the first collision.
Good point it will create an even bigger gap between the top and bottom teams.Thinking about this, it's just such a bad rule. You've just copped a try or multiple tries and then you need to either defend 7 tackles or give them 6 tackles 30m out...either way you are probably looking at each kick off set finishing within your half and your opposition in attacking field position.
It's going to be very difficult to stop momentum.
No it's not a penalty as we know it in the game... I said penalised as in the extra tackle. It’s not a penalty as such, teams can still kick long but have to suffer a 0 tackle.

Exactly how I see itThinking about this, it's just such a bad rule.
