Lote to fullback in 2012?

I can't believe no one has mentioned this option. When he was signed Sheens was talking about playing him at fullback but nothing ever come of it.Unless they sign a fullback (which i think is highly unlikely) i think Lote isn't a bad option considering the amount of wingers at the club

As Demps said, this has been spoken about for months on end.

It is worth a go IMO. He will return the ball well, has speed, has size, has experience and puts his body on the line.

Not great under the high ball but that can be fixed if your intentions are clear. He attacks the ball just needs to work on timing etc…

It sounds good because you immediately imagine Lote charging back a kick return.
I'd rather a little bloke hovering around the ruck like Slater and Stewart, and like McKinnon has started to do - seemingly coming from nowhere for an offload or an inside ball. Actually, the fullback from the under 20s has that role written all over him. Lote was killing it on the wing, they were talking about him for QLD - why change it?

Modern fullbacks cover much more ground than all other backs. At Lote's age and size, a switch to fullback would be too much for his body and I think he would end up like McKinnon, with niggling injuries eating into game time.

There was a mention on today's Footy show that Mcdonnell could be returning.

Say it isnt so….!
We punt a fringe 1st grader to another club, where he entrenches himself as a fringe first grader,& we buy him back...!
Will never win a premiership that way

Leave him on the wing That is his specialist position . Ryan or Brown are my choices maybe Tedesco depending how he matures in next 6-8 months ,no doubt that Moltzen will be there unfortunately

i would fancy lote's chances of a one on one tackle to stop a player charging at the try line much more than any of the other options…however i believe the best option is just to sign a decent fullback...and i dont think mcdonnell is the answer (surely that would go against sheen's plan of signing the high quality missing links to win a premiership)

Why not use Galloway at half while you're at it? Maybe throw Ryan into the second row just for fun! Oops….

I would like to see Lote in a more ball touching position. Probably centre though. Theres good things about him going to the 1 jersey, but I think id rather someone hovering around the ruck a bit more which would not be lotes style.

I like Lote as much as the next bloke, but thats a bit much.

lote would have trouble in defence as he is a big man and needs time to wind up,sliding across in defence would not be his strong suit.
