Lote to play Origin II?

My two cents….

As a staunch Queenslander, I hope that neither Folau or Tuqiri are selected for the remaining games.

Folau because he has turned away from the game and Lote for the same reasons.

Even though I'm glad that Lote has come back and is playing well for us I believe he should be punished for crapping on the game all those years ago. A permanent ban from all future rep sides is a perfect punishment for mine.

Brent Tate is our man, been there done that many times sucessfully. If not him than a new up and comer.

 Queenslanders and their warped sense of loyalty….

Lortay>>>>>>>>>Tate.....

"It could be Brent Tate, it could be Lote Tuqiri. **Who's been loyal out of those two** to the game, who's in form?," said Livermore.

Dosent sound good for lote

 that proves it…..

Stupid Queenslanders.....

Lote Tuqiri is ORIGIN.....

Slow? I heard plenty of NSW people jumped on the Blues to win game 1\. You didnt have to be too quick to realise Queensland were hot favourites…

Lote will be there. Des Morris wanted him in Game 1, but Mal pushed for the players who were there last year. Mal isnt speaking to nicely about the whole folau situation, so I'd say Des will get his way.

Rightly so too!!! :wahoo:

lote and izzy are different though they only spent 3 years in the NRL before switching guys like gower gasnier sailor tahu rogers all had long careers and went there for a pay day then came back.

its a bit different regarding lote IMO

Only because all these "up & comers" from NSW background "pledged" there alleigance to QLD.. now were left with nothing!

Isn't there some stupid 2 Year rule, seeing lote hasnt represent Kangaroo's or QLD in 2 years can't he pledge to NSW now??!

Izo, you should ask Lote. I'm sure you will get a quick reply. Oh, if you do get the chance, I hope you are wearing headgear…

Lote play Origin for NSW...

Lote Tuqiri, Brent Tate in Origin II 'trials'

THE Maroons' battle-plan for Israel Folau's replacement steps up a gear tonight when selector Allan Smith runs the rule over former Wallaby Lote Tuqiri.

Smith will attend the Bulldogs-Wests Tigers match at ANZ Stadium and says Tigers winger Tuqiri is well in the mix for a return to representative league.

New Zealand Warriors star Brent Tate, a 15-game veteran for Queensland, has the inside running for Folau's spot, with QRL managing director Ross Livermore indicating his loyalty and long service would be major factors in the selection debate.

While the QRL are not sending a selector to Auckland this weekend, they have their own man on the spot - Tate's brother-in-law Steve Price.

The injured prop has been asked to give an assessment of Tate's display in tomorrow's match against St George Illawarra at Mt Smart Stadium. Steve Ricketts

I'm of the understanding it is actually Illegal for the QRL not to pick Israel on the grounds that he is leaving to play AFL next year. The Qrl should be distancing themselves from all the media relating to this matter and if they choose to pick Brent Tate or Lote Tuqiri to replace Israel, the grounds should clearly be on the fact they believe Lote or Brent are better suited to the team.

I side with the Player on this one and Israel is still contracted to play Rugby League. With this being the case, and if Israel isnt selected and he has proof that he wasnt selected on the grounds as stated above, I hope he takes the matter further.

The guy is going to AFL because he is clearly 'restricted' in his earnings in Rugby League…

Alright boys,.... I'm ready to Keyboard Rumble!!!

How's that Watto….restricted earnings...LOL....Have the thoroubreads dropped their bundle or something......

Since when is 450K for playing a sport for 30 weeks not enough......

The guy is going to AFL cause he loooooovvvves the money....Origin is about passion, LOYALTY, mate against mate, state pride on the line not individuals chasing the cash.....

Your turn....

The Thoroubreds have plenty of coin, but they have gone quiet in the last 2 years. Ironically, this is when the first news about Melbourne were well over the Salary Cap was mentioned, so I'd say they have gone quiet. They also lost a member to Cancer who was at the centre of some of thier creativity…

Geo, I knew you would be the first to reply... The Salary Cap is a Restriction of Trade and if the NRL didnt have 1 clause in thier Contracts, this matter would been pushed through the courts many years ago. I wouldnt be suprised once we see the Independent Commission running the game, that a few clubs might have a crack at it??!!!

Loyalty is 'punchline' in conversation between footy heads. It is usually only used by Footballers when they cant believe someone is getting more than them. At the end of the day, NRL/ARL do not run sport, they run Big Business and players are always used as porns. The original concept of Super League was actually adopted by the Clubs, but later refuted by the ARL based on Money. The fish always go bad from the head down, and the Administrators of Rugby Leagu in this country are the problem when you start throwing around words of Loyalty. Who have they been loyal too?

The Salary Cap is a restriction no doubt….but unless you want a comp with 4 or 5 teams with the only chance of winning it...the rest just making up the numbers.... then it is a necessary evil....look at the EPL, NBA, World series baseeball and tell me that CASH hasn't soured those comps.....

Loyalty is about doing things you normally wouldn't do ie chase the cash, cause you still believe in something that's intangible...Like Heighno staying at the Wests Tigers when Benentt went hard to get him to the Dragons...

Yes the administration have been far from Loyal in most cases ....so what...A little childish...Oooh the admin dont give me any so why should I be Loyal to them....

Why cause Loyalty is personal.....

The word/term Loyalty doesnt enter into contract negociations because it has very little to do with it. Loyalty is only raised once a decision is made that doesnt suit the other party and is fed to external influences to try and gain support to intimidate the other. I dont know the reasons for Chris staying at the Tigers, but I'm certain Loyalty had nothing to do with it. I've been around this for a while and at no time has anyone I know ever signed based on Loyalty. Some people confuse the word Loyalty with Commonsence, just as some do with Passion vs. Integrity. In Israel's case, external factors played a major part in his decision, and yes, one was money. Not money for him, but money to external parties within his personal life. I feel sorry for the kid!

I dont know Chris, but looking from the outside in, and knowing Wayne personally, Id say Chris made the right choice. Was Chris Loyal to the Tigers, or is Chris just using Commonsence? Mr Sheens wouldnt use the words Loyalty, he would of spoken to Chris about commonsence, and commonsence would clearly show that Chris WILL be a fulltime member of the weekly 13 at the Tigers, but at the Dragons, this might not of been the case. The decesion is simple…

Dont start me on 4-5 clubs only winning, because that is total rubbish. I will note 2 points though. 1 - decreasing the number of Sydney teams will increase external revenue and 2 - the NRL restrict about 30% of Sponsors wanting to pour money into this game.

If I ever get the chance to sit and have a beer with you, I can tell you plenty of stories we can debate about....

Of course it's not rubbish to say that without a salary cap we'd have the same teams winning over and over again. The EPL is a prime example, if you're not Chelsea or ManU, match the money they're spending or play for 3rd at best.

The exact same thing would happen in the NRL.

We've had many eras pre-cap where a couple of teams have dominated, not the least of which was the Saints team of the 50's and 60's.

If we punt the cap, the game will be as good as dead in 5 years in Australia. Far too many clubs will just simply spend beyond their means to try and compete with the wealthier teams.
