@Tiger Watto said:The word/term Loyalty doesnt enter into contract negociations because it has very little to do with it. Loyalty is only raised once a decision is made that doesnt suit the other party and is fed to external influences to try and gain support to intimidate the other. I dont know the reasons for Chris staying at the Tigers, but I'm certain Loyalty had nothing to do with it. I've been around this for a while and at no time has anyone I know ever signed based on Loyalty. Some people confuse the word Loyalty with Commonsence, just as some do with Passion vs. Integrity. In Israel's case, external factors played a major part in his decision, and yes, one was money. Not money for him, but money to external parties within his personal life. I feel sorry for the kid!
I dont know Chris, but looking from the outside in, and knowing Wayne personally, Id say Chris made the right choice. Was Chris Loyal to the Tigers, or is Chris just using Commonsence? Mr Sheens wouldnt use the words Loyalty, he would of spoken to Chris about commonsence, and commonsence would clearly show that Chris WILL be a fulltime member of the weekly 13 at the Tigers, but at the Dragons, this might not of been the case. The decesion is simple…
Dont start me on 4-5 clubs only winning, because that is total rubbish. I will note 2 points though. 1 - decreasing the number of Sydney teams will increase external revenue and 2 - the NRL restrict about 30% of Sponsors wanting to pour money into this game.
If I ever get the chance to sit and have a beer with you, I can tell you plenty of stories we can debate about....
@coop said:Of course it's not rubbish to say that without a salary cap we'd have the same teams winning over and over again. The EPL is a prime example, if you're not Chelsea or ManU, match the money they're spending or play for 3rd at best.
The exact same thing would happen in the NRL.
We've had many eras pre-cap where a couple of teams have dominated, not the least of which was the Saints team of the 50's and 60's.
If we punt the cap, the game will be as good as dead in 5 years in Australia. Far too many clubs will just simply spend beyond their means to try and compete with the wealthier teams.
@stryker said:I think that Hayne and Slater will both play as there was bugger all in either play.
If anything Hayne will be charged but he surely should get off.
