Lote to play Origin II?

There is no way Qld will drop Falou for going to AFL and then give his spot to Tuqiri the guy who is back in league because he was booted out of Union. I don't neccessarily agree but I still think he is no chance.

I dont know Chris, but looking from the outside in, and knowing Wayne personally, Id say Chris made the right choice. Was Chris Loyal to the Tigers, or is Chris just using Commonsence? Mr Sheens wouldnt use the words Loyalty, he would of spoken to Chris about commonsence, and commonsence would clearly show that Chris WILL be a fulltime member of the weekly 13 at the Tigers, but at the Dragons, this might not of been the case. The decesion is simple…

Dont start me on 4-5 clubs only winning, because that is total rubbish. I will note 2 points though. 1 - decreasing the number of Sydney teams will increase external revenue and 2 - the NRL restrict about 30% of Sponsors wanting to pour money into this game.

If I ever get the chance to sit and have a beer with you, I can tell you plenty of stories we can debate about....

After signing his new three-year-deal with the Tigers, Heighington said he was delighted to sew up his future with the club.

The exact same thing would happen in the NRL.

We've had many eras pre-cap where a couple of teams have dominated, not the least of which was the Saints team of the 50's and 60's.

If we punt the cap, the game will be as good as dead in 5 years in Australia. Far too many clubs will just simply spend beyond their means to try and compete with the wealthier teams.

The day the NRL becomes like the EPL with only 4-5 clubs with the resources to win the comp is the day I walk away from the game.
 
Not pissed off. I was bored this morning, so I thought I would vent. I don't think it is right that people are accusing Israel of being dis-loyal, when they havnt heard his side of the story. I was even more dissapointed with the media interview with Darren Lockyer, considering he knows why this has really happened, but can't say the truth because he is the Australian Captain.

The whole subject has been hijacked…

Oh, and I knew Geo would throw up an arguement. :laughing:
 
Slater's elbow could twist arms of Maroons selectors in Tuqiri's favour

LOTE TUQIRI is suddenly in the frame for a Queensland recall eight years after his last State of Origin appearance as Maroons fullback Billy Slater faces suspension over an incident involving Parramatta No 1 Jarryd Hayne on Friday night.

While Hayne was reported for headbutting Slater in the 62nd minute of the Eels' 24-10 win over Melbourne, Slater will be the subject of close analysis by the NRL match review committee, which will look at alternative angles to ascertain whether his use of an elbow or forearm in a tackle on Hayne moments later constitutes striking.

If he is charged with grade one striking offence Slater's carry-over points from a previous dangerous contact offence this season plus loading would rule him out of Origin II at Suncorp Stadium on June 16 unless he mounted a successful defence at the judiciary.

The fullback's potential absence from the Queensland line-up brings Tuqiri back into the selection make-up just days after the QRL indicated his previous defection to rugby union would count against him in replacing Israel Folau on the wing.

Soon after Folau's signing for new AFL team Greater Western Sydney was announced last week, QRL managing director Ross Livermore made clear the code-switching Brisbane Bronco would not be considered for the remainder of the Origin series.

He also indicated that Tuqiri's past departure from rugby league would count against him in his bid to replace Folau, with Brent Tate considered the man likely to come in to add to his 15 Origins.

However, a Slater suspension brings Wests Tigers winger Tuqiri back into the picture. In the event Slater is charged and subsequently suspended it is expected that in-form Dragons fullback Darius Boyd would be moved from the Maroons wing to occupy the vacant No 1 jumper.

With two places on the flank vacant Tuqiri, who played all six games in the 2001 and 2002 series, is in line to be granted another shot at Origin with Tate on the other wing.

''We have a number of options,'' Queensland chairman of selectors Des Morris said yesterday. ''We'll just wait and see what happens. We don't have to pick the team until Tuesday.''

The only other change to the Queensland side for Origin II should be a straight swap of the injured Petero Civoniceva (fractured hand) for Brisbane-bound Canterbury prop Ben Hannant, who was unavailable for game one with a knee injury.
 
I think that Hayne and Slater will both play as there was bugger all in either play.

If anything Hayne will be charged but he surely should get off.

Why is that??? Haynes headbutt was ridiculously weak - it could be charged but fairdinkum shouldn't.

Slater has retaliated and had a very angry airswing which he was penalised for with a bin stretch.

If either of these blokes are suspended then the game should be given the nickname of the pillow fighting pussies league - the PFPL :laughing: got a bit of a ring to it.

Wasn't accussing Izzi of dis-loyalty either...... more show me the money....

Loyalty as in he made a good personal decission ....took the opportunity outside RL so he no longer quailfies for Origin....

LOL to stryker...as soft as Hayne's head butt was it's a dog act....can't have the little kiddies copying him now...if Gibbs got 3 for a love tap on Burt...Hayne should get 6.....
 
They'll also want grub slater to play.
That elbow he threw was actually far worse I think. Thankfully it didn't connect because unlike the headbutt it could have done quite a bit of damage.

I'd still rather he be fresh for the Saints game, but it is going to look more likely that he could be selected.
 
Just confirmed on 2GB Tate has a broken jaw and will have surgery tomorrow to insert a plate.
