No idea what the hold up is, this should of been announced as early as last Wednesday. Maybe Sheens wants to be here for it ?

all my mail was pointing to an early to mid week announcement, then i got word there was a slight problem with one part of the 3rd party agreement that should of been resolved by friday.

but this news today came from no where, like ive stated previously, no where along my grape vine did i hear that UK rugby was an option let alone him being days away from signing with a team over there, so i dont know how much truth there is to this story, because one of my sources is very high in the WT organisation and the other is in the sydney media.

and i will reveal both names of my sources if tuquiri does sign over there. I still have it on good authority that he will be playing for us next year but this UK union thing is disturbing

Don't panic,as I said back on August 2nd it was going to be a very long media and public "dance". A signing like this is not going to be just another news story,it is going to be THE news story, and believe me it is a very well planned affair.Like Anderson said this Uk thing is news to all,and my intel is VERY close to the source.

Well, it should only be disturbing to you if he has in fact not signed and it's still just talk between Lote and the tigers.

I find it hard to swallow that you keep telling us to relax because he'll be in a tigers jersey next year.
Reading between the lines in your posts i get the feeling your sources are saying he'll be playing with the tigers next year but no one has actually told you he's signed on the dotted line otherwise you'd have nothing to be disturbed about.

My read on all this is that Lote has indicated to the tigers that he would like to play with us, but as yet he has not signed. I'm not saying he won't but from his past negotiations i wouldn't be surprised if he ends up playing soccer for Scotland.

bingo

hit the nail on the head

You baffle me. Taking pot shots at Anderson AGAIN after a hundred warnings. Mods should lock this thread and never re open it.

I don't see the people above taking pot shots, just questioning the accuracy of his sources (and in a fairly polite way). As long as it isn't a personal attack, I don't see where the issue is. You can't expect everyone to just accept what another person says is gospel.

Personally I think Anderson seems to have a good source and is genuine in what he is doing. And the end of the day though he can only tell us what he hears not necessarily what will happen.

To me it looks like Humphries is happy for him to play OS and then link up with the Tigers as long as he doesn't return too long. If he HAS signed with us already the people behind all the union speculation deserve awards for the best diversionary tactics seen since D-Day…

I think this is our only hope of getting lote also he wont be ours outright.I must admit over the last couple of days I have been thinking that If lote was going to sign with us the club would have announced it already as this would help seal our effort for a renewed major sponsor.put simply why holdout if lote has signed as it will only hurt sponsorship chances. 😕 😕 😕

I doubt that holding off on the announcement would hurt our chances of landing major sponsorship deals. Someone like Humphries is a lot smarter than that. Just getting off topic for a second, I have huge wraps on Humphries and I think in time he'll prove to be the best CEO in the NRL. I've heard that he's impressed a lot of people, not just in the NRL but also the business world. Noycie leaving and Sheens' battle with Longmuir was definitely a blessing in disguise.

That being said, IF Lote has signed then there is a bigger picture as to why the announcement has not come yet. I would like to think that after the four nations tour there's going to be one of the biggest press conferences ever staged by this club where they announce the signing of Lote, Lima and the resigning of Proton Cars and perhaps other sponsors. Imagine the moment the club would gain pushing into the start of season 2010.

Sorry if it sounded like i was taking a pot shot, my only intention was to analyse his past posts to get clarity and express my views.

Anderson - please don't stop posting on this topic, you've made the week a lot more enjoyable at work. The above are just my opinions - and you know what they say, they're like bums, everyone's got one.

in reguards to what ive posted to icon and others is that i cant get info on whether he is gonna play union in the off season, my WT source confirmed to me that tuquiri WILL be playing for the tigers next year 100%.
\
\
the thing i meant by disturbing was that if he is allowed to play union is the potential of injury and how that effects us money wise as we have really strained our resourses to get him here so he wouldnt have to play union union over seas to compensate the money we couldnt pay him, but with the work of the like of elias and other the tigers have put together a very lucrative package for lote that has him in the top 3 highest paid players in our club.
\
\
thats what i meant by the union thing being disturbing. sorry for the confusion.

Hmmm, I've very much been in favour of signing Tuqiri. He'll bring a lot to the club, particularly marketing. But it's absurd if he's the third highest paid after Farah and Marshall. Getting paid more than Ellis?

Could not agree more, throw lawry into that mix with TNT also. 😢

You are forgetting that a large portion of Lote's salary will be third party payments. Do you really think TNT or Lawry could command the same in this regard. In fact the only player with Lote's star appeal is Benji?

Regardless, a person's value is not alwasys based upon their ability but what they can get in the market. The questions we have to ask are:

Do we want Tuqiri?
What is his worth to the club?
How much money are we prepared to pay for him?
How much will we need to pay for him?

Comparing what he adds on the field to say a Gareth Ellis is pointless. If we have the cap space and we think he will contribute to the team then sign him. Its a no brainer really.

I agree with that provided he's a Tiger only. None of this union on the side crap, and definately not a situation where he joins us after the season has started.

If he comes to us on those terms, obviously what we need to pay will be significantly less. It wouldnt necessarily be a bad business decision as we would have him when the season really counts. My only condition would be that he joins us before about Rd 7.

Personally I would prefer him there from the start but wouldnt necessarily be against letting him play union first.

So no off season training, no trial games…he just comes waltzing straight into the team.
Gotta be great for team spirit....particularly the guy who makes way for him.

Is he a player or a marketing tool?

We have enough egos clashing already apparently with Coach and Marquee player Marshall having secrets.

Gimmee a prop or two. Clinton & Cashy will do me.

He either plays union o/s or league for us none of this half / half crap.

The last thing we need is him puncing around playing rugby while he should be over here learning our play.
For starters we probably need to teach him how to tackle again…

Only problem is Gallop has said they wont register him in the NRL if he also had a deal to play UK rugby.

Thats a different issue and is obviouly a problem. I assume the club will make sure that they can ultimately register him before they agree to a deal.

As I said I much prefer to have him from the start but if the deal is right then I am happy for us to consider alternative options as well.
