Sounds like he still hasn't signed anything if u go by his latest tweet. Not over the line yet.

Maybe Lote was about to sign with us then he got offered another deal and is now trying to see whiich one wants to be the highest bidder.

**London Irish and Leicester tussle for the services of Lote Tuqiri**
>
Moreover, both clubs have been linked with a move to sign Lote Tuqiri, the wing sacked by the Australian Rugby Union in July after yet another off-field disciplinary issue. Leicester are cautiously optimistic that Tuqiri will agree a deal until the end of the season before returning to Sydney to pick up his rugby league career with Wests Tigers and, were that to be the case, it could be another source of frustration for Irish.

Injuries have hit the clubs hard in the back three this season: Irish are without Delon Armitage and Adam Thompstone in the mid to long term, and Topsy Ojo has yet to make his comeback. Leicester have lost their captain, Geordan Murphy, until deep in the new year and Matt Smith, Alesana Tuilagi and Sam Vesty, the utility back, are struggling, so a player of Tuqiri’s proven talents would be of huge value.

Sounds like they have no idea either.....gotta love the media.....

Does Lortay want the Money or not I guess....

Just thinking, **if** Lote has already signed with the Tigers that the club would wait out till after the Four Nations for Tim Sheens to arrive if any sort of press conference is to be done?

**If** Mathew Head got a nice press conference, coach and all you'd think that it be the same story for a marquee signing.

I personally don't think any news will be released until after the Four Nations is over.

Lote wont sign with union if it effects his long term return to the NRL, is the latest i got today, which may explain his twitter comment.

i still cant get a date or time for the official announcement… sorry guys.

The Australian is reporting Lote is set to confirm later this week he has signed with English Super Rugby superpower the Leichester Tigers. It also states it could be a double blow with Proton opting for the Roosters.

Sorry i can't post the report, i viewed it on my phone. But the above is para phrased.

Again it sounds like no deals are yet done.

I've got a feeling that if he does sign with the UK, that it will be a short stint because he has probably made a handshake deal to return to play with the Tigers next year.

If Humphrey's discussed this option with Gallop at his meeting last week, and Gallop kept his stance about not being able to sign anyone while signed to Rugby, then the Tigers would have no choice but to come out and say that they have lost him.

I think Gallop was even stressing that a handshake deal for a short off season stint in rugby would be a problem when the Marshal stint in Japan was going on. So, if the Tigers have done that, then they will have to play this very carefully and we won't know for sure until April/May next year. we will only know if the Tigers keep a spot open in the top 25…

Here is the Article Icon was talking about - http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,26263620-5015651,00.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The problem was that Benji had an existing contract. Gallop saal id that a person contracted to an NRL club cannot sign a deal with a rival code. If Tuqiri signs for a union a club and then signs for us, this problem doest exist. The situation would be no different than if we went and signed say Matt Giteau for 2012.

Well kinda, Benji was coming off contract and I remember Gallop throwing in some chat about doing a handshake deal between contracts that would allow Benji to play in between signings. I figure the same might apply here and if so, I think the Tigers will be very cautious of what they say in the media.

Benji wasn't coming off contract. We were trying to extend his contract. The proposal was that he would sign a contract extension and would be allowed to play the off season in Japan. Hence there would have been a subsisting contract, which is not the case with Tuqiri.

Provided Tuqiri first signs with an English club, if we sign him, it will be no different than signing anybody else from English Rugby Union before their union contract ends. There is no prior contractual relationship with the club, so it should be fine.

Long time reader of this thread!

Thought I'd finally register. Thanks for the info anderson. I really hope your sources know what they're talking about. This thing is dragging, and TBH I'm starting to have my doubts, but only time will tell I suppose.
