Unfortunately after few solid games at the start, his form went down.
We have at lest 2 better 2nd rowers: Akauola and Funaki.

I will never accept that Akauola is not a better player with more to offer.

I think the bigger issue is why Taylor persists with Santi on the bench, he offers absolutely nothing! Makes no metres, gets dominated in tackles and as a result you get slow play the balls. I would of thought Lodge, Akaoula, Liolavave or Funaki would at least offer some aggresion and impact of the bench even if they only get 15 minutes.

Lovett is fit and has a very good workrate, can't knock his effort. But he's about as threatening as a blowfly, doesn't hit hard in tackles and doesn't bend the line in attack.
I really wish Akauola wasn't so lazy, he's got the attributes to be a good backrower, just doesn't work hard enough IMO.

Every player should try hard. Every player should be busting a gut. They're not. Think if Lovett didn't bust his ass (while still having no impact) he wouldn't even be in nsw cup…

I agree Lovett has limited ability. He mostly tries hard, has the odd surprising moment in him, plus the odd disappointing moment. Mostly he tackles ok and takes modest hitups, hardly inspiring.
Problem for JT is he needs big-minute players, he has too many 30-minute forwards. Apart from Lovett and sometimes Farah, none of the other guys can manage 80\. Woods already chalks up big minutes because the rotation of KG / Sue / Ava / Taupau can't handle the minutes they have been given.
So unless we can bring back Fulton, we need a fit workman on the field, and Lovett is the best one of those we have.

Lovett is nowhere near being a first grade stud but he did make 47 tackles. I also thought he made some strong charges. However, he has a tendency to make half hearted grabbing efforts when defending near his line.

Yeah not his fault he isn't a world beater. Tries hard and yes if we had good quality back rowers he wouldn't be in first grade.
