Luke Brooks #167

right now if AD was fit he would do for a 6 that is how bad we are going and hope and pray we can find a 7 from somewhere
I hope Fulton is pretty confident on getting latu fainu over the line as not letting Marshall and benji sign Brooks wouldn't happen at other clubs, as if Robinson or Bellamy or bennet would not be allowed to sign the player they wanted.

One thing Luke did deserve as a long term player at this club is for the powers that be would be honest with him.
Playing games with his retention contract when we have no depth, and no one of any talent wanting to sign on is amaturish bullshit.

4 years for brooks would have been crazy even 3 years would have been too much.
2 years would have been right and then you bring on the juniors
The pickings in the halves are pretty slim at present

JT, you've backed him stoically over the years
mate, I agree with you whole heartedly here.
It's all in hindsight but maybe an offer of 8/750k
over 2 years would have kept him? We may
have dropped the ball again here on this one,
there's so much outside noise though.. He was
probably gone anyway. Seeing how frustrated
and frazzled his poor mother looked at the
presentation for his 200th game made me sad.
Good for him, what can I say. Goodluck to him

not too much luck Kaito it is manly after all lol

As much as I hate to see it, my guess is Luke Brooks will kill it and excel at the Sea Eagles. For the most part, we've trained and developed players only for other clubs to reap in the rewards. Look at James Tedesco, Mitchell Moses, Ryan Papenhuyzen, Josh Addo-Carr. You can now add Luke Brooks onto the list

Geeze, had to get a pick and shovel to find this thread..
When is Brooksy back from injury?
We haven’t won a game this year without him.
I think the last time we won Brooksless was Broncos mid last year?
Why would we want him to play at all? I’m not saying that as an anti-Brookser, but from the perspective that this season is a write-off, so I don’t get why would we select players like Brooks, Talau or Laurie when some players can gain from more experience or others can be blooded before 2024 season, instead of during.

Is there any possibility I could dissuade you from thinking like the collective brains at our club?
This is an all to familiar story like grounghog day
1. We start the season full of hope.
2. Somewhere at the midpoint we get hope fade-away.
3. Tell ourselves winning isn’t everything, so the baby(will to win) gets tossed out too.
Sweet Geezus mate, we need to hang onto the one thing that will get us out of this hole?
Winning doesn’t start in the back office, the front office or anywhere else other than in the hearts and minds of every single person associated or connected to the club.
You don’t put off winning for a later date.
That’s a ploy by the WT board to placate the masses.
‘We will start winning when we sack the next coach’
‘We will start winning next year when the new coach gets rolling.’
‘We will start winning when young players get more experience.’
Etc etc etc.
Stuff like that only serves to wear down the enthusiasm for victory. Unfortunately it seems to be working. ☹️

We all could see, except the club that Brooks was NOT a halfback. They persisted and failed both the club and Brooks himself. Brooks is an out and out 6...he doesn't have the IQ to be a 7. He will kill it at Manly as they will only expect him to be a running 6.

As long as DCE remains healthy i agree with you

If you are trying to avoid the spoon, you pick your strongest possible side. Talk of trying to give players experience for next year is waffle. A myth that won’t make a lick of difference. Not at this club.

Beginning to think we won't see Brooks for the rest of the season, a little like last year when he finished the season in June/July and wasn't seen again.

The same people who wanted him gone are now blaming him for us not having a halfback. Make it make sense.
I don't blame Brooks I blame our inept front office & Sheens for letting Hastings go. Before people get on me & start saying how Hastings isn't that great he's a steady head & a great organiser which we desperately need in the side atm. And I think everyone would agree Hastings is much better then Wakeham no?

Absolutely!
If we’re going to treat the last 5 games as ‘only trials’ then what sort of message does this send?
