Luke Brooks #167

I don't blame Brooks I blame our inept front office & Sheens for letting Hastings go. Before people get on me & start saying how Hastings isn't that great he's a steady head & a great organiser which we desperately need in the side atm. And I think everyone would agree Hastings is much better then Wakeham no?
Hastings wasn’t/isn’t perfect just like Gamble, but I’d rather have those 2 if we don’t have Brooks. I also rate Brooks better than those 2. Think he’ll go very well at Manly.

I think a Brooks/Hastings halves combo could've had us potentially challenging for the top 8. Brooks & AD combo just simply didn't work & it was no secret Brooks form improved dramatically once Wakeham came into the side. Hastings is a 10x better player then Wakeham & would've taken a lot of pressure of Brooks to play his natural game. But hey, what do I know? If Sheens thinks he's a lock then he's a lock 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ I do know we are running dead last & Newcastle are one win outside the 8 though.

Hindsight is great isn’t it
I would hazard a guess that Moses was giving every indication of coming back
Not very often your first choice halves are both out for extended periods

I’ve never mentioned it, but always thought the way to get the best from Brooks is to play him at 7 with a younger less experienced 6. I don’t believe a lot of the media speculation surrounding Brooks.
He’s a natural 7. Joey must have seen that in him but didn’t want to say as much.
He was certainly desperate to get him to Knights.

I've always thought he's been a running 5/8 & could've potentially become one of the best 5/8's in the comp if given time to develop into one it would've helped us dramatically. To me he's always performed best with an experienced half next to him or at least someone to take the pressure off him in terms of organising & steering the team around the field which is why to me it was not a coincidence he won the Dally M Halfback of the year playing alongside a much older/experienced Benji Marshall.

I was really excited by the prospect of Mitchell Moses coming back & playing alongside Brooks as Moses has developed into a top 5 half in the comp (which pains me to say) & does a good job at steering Parramatta around the park.

Just watched Storm vs Eels from last night. Huge difference when you have a few match winning players in your group - Storm carried by Grant, Hughes and Munster, who are a level above the rest (and 2 levels above anybody we have). Also have no nonsense forwards who make metres in A and are tough in D plus great finishers on both wings.
