If, and that is an if for now, Sheens' role is broadened by our CEO to oversee Maguire (if he is still at the club), then I hope we can see Brooks play the style of game he did under Cleary. Sheens recruited Brooks to the Club and no doubt has strong views on how he should be used.

I think that we are nuts to let him go before next year.

I listed some of the crap halves in the NRL earlier. He is not great, but he is not the worst.

Without him we would be running with Hastings & Doueihi as the halves who are both unproven and the same crap supporting cast & gameplan. I would be interested in seeing what Sheens can do to his game

Is he ? The problem I have with Brooks is that he doesn't step up enough. Let's be honest but Doueihi didn't yesterday either.

We need some gun players. Hastings might be that guy.

So you would rather keep a proven dud than try something different?
If Brooks is as wonderful as some think then other clubs should be lining up to sign him and we wont need to take a big $$$ hit to get rid of him.

Hastings may find things quite a bit different in the NRL when the speed of the game is faster and the big men who are faster than him are targeting him in defence. Hastings is in his mid 20s and never held down an NRL halves' position. Even bad boy halves are retained if they are good.

We should have put in a significant bid for Brayden Trindall. When he was off contract I thought he was the player we should have chased, not Hastings.

I don't know. He looked decent yesterday but not necessarily good.

We need an injection of talented players especially in our backline but the spine positions have the biggest impact on winning games.

So it’s Luke Brooks’ fault that when Walters came on , our middle suddenly looked paper thin , and they ran in 4 tries through there ? Ok , cool .
We cannot win football games if we have guys who can’t tackle . You cannot win football games , if you let in 30 points , let alone 50 . It’s not the halfbacks fault we let in 50 points , most of which through the guts of the field .
This is what happens at the moment , we have 1 reserve grade player come on , he misses 5 tackles they all lead to tries , we lose . It was Musgrove , albeit because of injury not talent , BJ , and Walters twice . That’s it . You can’t carry passengers in the nrl . Also Tuki missed and fell off a few himself which lead to breaks . That’s fine he’s 19 . He needs to bulk up .

Seems goody two shoes halves are also retained... even if they're no good.
Hastings had just turned 22 and had Cherry Evans in front of him when he left Manly.
As a kid he had Pearce in front of him at the Roosters before that.
He still managed to get nearly 50 starts in first grade.
Not too many obstacles in his way when he gets here.

The reason our paper thin defence was that yesterday is down to two reasons:
1) our halves did not control the game… Very poor game management by both AD and Brooks, no repeat sets, poor 5th set options and 2) our unforced errors, which is a common occurrence

Address the above two and with our forwards rolling we win most games…

People can wish all they like, he’s not going anywhere. The club is already paying out half of Mbye’s contract this year. They won’t pay out half of Brooks on top of that.

Yup, even if they want him gone they'll have to pay majority of his contract

Would be well worth it to get rid of the anchor.

Easy to say on a forum when you already dislike him. Different story when you are the one actually balancing the cap.

You think?
There are people actually paid big money to balance our cap and get rid of deadwood like Brooks.
About time they stepped up.

Deadwood in your eyes. I’m amazed you think balancing a cap is as black and white as that.

Yes. Once Hastings proves 2 other NRL clubs could not recognise his game changing superstar abilities, what a great game manager he is and that he is much better than Brooks, then Brooks can sit in reserve grade and be moved on.

In the meantime I can't compare Hastings to Brooks, he could be more comparable to Madden.

That’s absolute straight garbage . Did he drop the ball 100 times in bad field position ? Nope . Did he miss easy tackles in the middle that lead to direct points . Nope ?
We lost the game when the grind was on .
The poor game management looked to be a tactic to not give repeat sets , and allow thier back 5 , to control the game , Through counter attacking broken defensive lines . Which they did anyway , through those 4 tries I’m talking about .

Seriously what game do some of you watch . Errors in bad field position / good field position , and not getting into the grind , when the bench came on .
We couldn’t match thier bench .
And Simpkins was doing a great job controlling the middle third . Walters did the exact opposite .

Why do we hang onto the shit players forever ?
Brooks has always been average at best so why do they keep extending him ..
Same goes for nofoalooza..
both are crap , both have never made the semis and both have never made Origin ..
This club is shit … it’ll take another 10 years to turn this crap around ..
mark my words !

Because we can't sign replacements. Let them go and you end up with a team full of Tuki's

Reports all over the place this morning that Brooks is being shopped to other clubs by his manager.
Maybe there are things going on behind the scenes.
Hope Nofo is also the radar.

Haha right ok. So we’re offloading Mbye, Brooks AND Noffa in one off season. Delusional

No middles, No Second Rowers, No Centres, No Fullback, No strike out Wide...

Lets sack the halfback!!
F This Club!!

The club is a mess, but apparently booting the halfback and winger will turn the whole club around.

It’s a start

Paying over a million dollars on contracts for players at other clubs. Yeah, nah

Well Sheens is back, wasn't that one of his legacies?
