Lyons in SOO for NSW

Jamie Lyon has failed at origin level. He is a very good first grader…but he does nothing in origin and should never be considered. Cant believe they keep asking the guy

Nothing in Origin?

Except be one of the few players currently in the NRL to say they have won an Origin series for NSW. Hes won 2 infact. Fairly sure only Luke Bailey has him covered with 3 series wins of his own.

Nothing in Origin? He is part of a very select group of Blues currently playing who can put their hand up and say they DID do something in Origin.

Being carried by a very good forward pack and one of the best halves that the game has ever seen doesn't necessarily mean you did something at SOO level

You could make that argument against almost any player you don't rate. For example, don't like the NSW Origin forward pack during those days? Just say we had the best half and a great backline. If you don't rate Joey, just say we had a great forward pack which made him look better then he is etc.

Personally, I won't rubbish a player who can boast 2 Origin series wins.

Lyon only has 1 origin series win. He won it in 2003, then in 2004 he took off before the origin series started and returned in 2007\. NSW haven't won a series since then.

i would compare him to dave taylor - he was part of last years series win for qld, but has done nothing in origin himself

He was a gun in Origin while at the Eels.

He came back during a period when the Blues were terrible and was one of many who couldn't turn the tide by himself.

He has had a terrific career, but it seems people let personal feelings over take that.

yeah he was gun in '03, but that doesnt mean he should be in the team all these years later. lyon's had a great NRL career, & was great in superleague, but in origin he hasnt done anything to cement his position post walk-out

Not a fan. He does whatever he wants and screw everyone else. Inglis turned himinto a rag doll but of course there's no shame in that. Old blokes aren't going to do it for NSW except Bird, for some strange reason.

I'm not for picking him now, or in the future either Happy.

I just took exception to the line that he achieved nothing in Origin, which is false.
