LIVE GAME Magic Round v Sea Eagles

Live Game Discussion
I dont buy bagging Mason due to his height - If he had the speed of Jye Gray or Fa'alogo then he would be a weapon, fullbacks dont need height to be good.

But he doesn't. He is someone who tries hard and thats about it.

Hope on the other hand should not be playing again, his delivery is not 1st grade standard.
Speed is nor his problem. Bur his heart ❤️. And mind

Sorry, but that was a blatant professional foul. Fogerty in all likelihood gets that ball first if Mason didn't throw that stupid lazy arm out instead of trying to turn and chase. Mason was pathetic all day
Professional foul yes but Fogerty was never getting to it, Madden who put it over the dead ball was already in front of him and Brooks who is a crap load faster would have beaten him to it

Here we go, the armchair social media coaches, deriding certain players, selecting their teams and plucking names they've heard or seen a play or two in a highlight reel, and using phrases such as "they can't be any worse". Then a kid like Javon has a shocker, and the cycle repeats itself - Mason, Tavana, Makasini, Da Silva, Luke Laulilii, etc. This club just repeats the same mistakes over and over again.

There's a kid called Latu Fainu. Maybe develop and play him in the position he came to the club as? But half the supporters are just as bad with "he has to be in the team somewhere." No wonder the kid is lost. Nah, just throw in yet another under developed kid in Andrews to the wolves - "he can't be worse!"

Then there is fullback. Attard has been rolled under the goal posts just about every reserve grade game this season by an opposition cup forward. NRL ready according to half of you. And Brookes probably had his worst game for the club on the weekend, albeit on the wing. Two kids still only 19, and need more development in the lower grades before they see a millisecond of NRL.

You lot have caught Benji's illness of just throwing a kid in and thinking they'll do a job. Did Benji even make the comment in Ethan Robert's NRL debut presentation that he hasn't seen him play? Is he just relying on lower grades staff about what the young players are doing in lower grades?

This roster is full of under developed players because they're young and being thrown an NRL debut before they're ready, or playing/training inconsistently in different positions. The club has [This word has been automatically removed]ed up a few kids already. How about they take a deep breath and help these kids with the right decision for them, instead of making them NRL players and thinking they've done the work. This club gives it to them to easily, and fans are supporting the approach.
Attard aint ready for top grade. Agree there.

Talk about everything we like but our contact in defense is so soft. That was pathetic yesterday and manly cruised through that game barely getting excited on tries because we were so poor. Our fill in players are obviously less physical, but you expect more from most out there.

On top of that, our halves were really disconnected. Both of them are playing their own game and the hesitation and stumbling around resulted in slow passing, poor hit ups and errors.

Really disappointing effort from Luai who you'd expect to have more understanding given his experience. Felt he could have run straight or carried the ball quite a bit but instead played slow pass out wide to our edges to get teed up and belted. Latu always looks sharp when playing the middle but has struggled in the past when playing 80, can he do it?

I don't think we'd beat anyone at the moment. Don't even think we'd be able to compete.

I have seen many sin bins for players that were never going to get to it...if they were getting to it it would have been a penalty try. I only saw it on replay and it was stupidity from Mason as we would have had it covered and Fogarty was a fair way out.

I'm gonna cry.

Every week it's something new.

LL is better than Skelton.

*LL has a bad game.*

Skelton is better than LL, why is Benji selecting him!!!

🙄

We are heavily, heavily depleted. We have pretty much no attacking weapons with Api, AD, Bula and Sammy F out. We have no defensive resilience with no Api and no Twal.

Again, not going to judge individuals this week. Not even worth doing that.

Mason under the high ball was pretty good though.
Even the Madden love didn’t last long, his game has been impacted by the injuries like everyone else.

I stopped watching when he passed it to Taylan on the last down the short side, on our 40m with plenty of defenders waiting to shut it down, Taylan rushed a kick and it went sideways and koula beat half our team to score.
Luai's hesitation to take on the line or kick long makes me think he is still carrying an injury, hopefully he can get over it before the dogs game.

Come on he barley touched him , again the refs got to play a roll , even though we were already done , NRL needs to pull these refs into line they are killing the game
The NRL doesn't need to pull the refs into line, if anything its the other way around. The refs are reffing how the NRL are instructing them. And I don't mean ensuring outcomes as some believe but making the very soft decisions that they do.

I think blame should be attributed at the right place. The refs have no feel for the game stuff is just not true. They've all spent decades reffing to get to where they are and usually they have moved into reffing after a stellar junior playing career. The physical requirements of reffing at NRL level is a bit of a testament to this. But if your boss wants you to adjudicate a certain way example injuries affecting outcomes or crack down of the month then you either get on board or find yourself without a contract the following year.

I’ll cop the sin bin. Funny though how the bunker said we had two guys back there, then the ref justifies the sin bin by saying the opposite. You’ll see the same thing not binned within the next fortnight.

Yep the six agains are destroying the game completely. Not to mention some of the other farcical new rules they feel the need to introduce EVERY SINGLE YEAR. No one knows what they’re doing anymore.
They have sped up the game to a ridiculous level, players are dropping like flies, teams at some point are decimated through the season.

Starting to think it was better when there were more penalties in the game, slowing it down to give the players a rest and recover, if they keep this speed of game up it's only going to get worse going forward.

Mostly the bottom 8 teams decimated.
They had to defend much more.
Why?

I would love the game to be refereed the way it should be by applying both the rules and common sense, these days it could pass as touch football with the emphasis on zero contact and speed play the ball. The contest between teams has been nullified to maximise the scoring in the game.
It is a very poor substitute for the football i have enjoyed in my 70+ years of life.Certainly crack down on foul play but at least make an attempt to understand what foul play is and not just make a knee jerk reaction to light unavoidable contact.
I would be happy to see someone like Jim Comans in charge of the MRC and suspension's,he was harsh but scrupulously fair.
Just my rant.

Thank heavens the future is in the hands of young lads like yourself JT. Makes total sense.
Just tell me Jim had nothing to do with the suspensions of Les Boyd, Bob Cooper or Dallas Donnelly?
