The signings made under Cleary's watch were horribly overpaid, but at least he could get something out of them. Madge had 10-20% of the cap producing nothing because he couldn't make use of the skills that they have in some way.

Just exactly what did he get out of them?

Packer & Matulino were leaders at the club. Cleary got the best out of what he had, Madge discards what does not fit

Correct me if I’m wrong but James Roberts has been 18th man for at least 2 or 3 of the last 4 weeks and our coach is saying his absence is part of what cost us the match??? Who selects the team?

There may be a very good reason why Jet is 18th man and not actually playing. Coach might be talking about completely healthy Jet versus lockdown housebound Jet. Or he may have a niggling injury where they don't think they could have fielded him for 80 mins.

Makes no sense. If he's not fit to play he shouldn't be 18th man 2 or 3 of the last 4 weeks. In case he is needed, why would you have an injured player as your 18th man when there are others?

I don't see the Roosters making excuses even though they've been plagued by injury much worse then us

Didn’t they just cop a $40k fine for blaming everyone for there last game loss?

i think that was more aimed at the time it took for the LM " tackle" to be reviewed by the flunker

Tbh, Madge is probably more distraught that he’s ruined his reputation by taking the job. This place is a coaches graveyard after all. The Bermuda Triangle. Coaches come here and disappear. How ironic the only coach who had us on the right track over the last decade is the one most despised.

Maguire ruined his own reputation by surrounding himself with yes men with very little relevance to the younger generational player … he still would be coaching next season if he surrounded himself with proven professional assistants .. he put himself in the graveyard !

100%

That and trying to fix and befriend players who just don't have what it takes.

I said earlier in the season he will go down with the ship supporting players like Brooks and here we are.

He deserves everything he is copping. It's his own doing and why he should be sacked.

Just to make things clear; if Maguire is retained OR if he is replaced and the new coach keeps Brooks, you won't bother us again with your opinions? I'd call that a win-win.

No you will be hearing from me.

The new coach will be under the pump from day one if he sticks with Brooks. Will be wonderful reading.

The end of season review won’t paint a good light on Madge but the fact it is being conducted by Pascoe and Hartigan is not ok. Those 2 have just as much to do with the current mess as Madge - if not more. Whoever signs off on the deals such as Mbye, Reynolds, Packer, BJ, Roberts etc has to be accountable to. We talk about changing the culture but when you bring in players like that you get the culture we have. The review needs to be done by an independent and be from top to bottom.

I don't understand the anger directed at Pascoe or Hartigan. Pascoe has our club in the black which in turn allowed more resources for the football dept. Hartigan has recruited some of the best young talent we have had at the club. Our U21s were the best. Our junior recruitment for next year looks to be outstanding.

The Madge cult will blame anyone..............but Madge.

Pascoe is blameless to you?

Thank the lord you're not in control...

Does anyone think that maybe Madge would be more suited to working in the recruiting side of things or doing something else in the background with WestsTigers.

He clearly has a lot of passion for the club and desperately wants to see WestsTigers succeed as an NRL power house maybe just not as it’s coach.

It must be hard for Madge to accept he is not the man for the job. Nothing is working for him and he can’t attract players. That’s a lot of self reflection to soak up and come to terms with. I think his confidence will be shattered with even more expectation next year. If he makes it, he’ll be gone by Round 4 if the results aren’t there. I don’t think he could take on another job in the club knowing he was a failed head coach. I couldn’t.

With Hastings and his abrasive attitude it will be great to watch as Brooks will be in for a big surprise .. no where to hide when he arrives!

In early 2018 we had the best period defensively that we have ever had since 2000. People find it hard to separate what he did to how he left. The same way wrestling fans can’t separate Chris Benoit the wrestler, to Chris Benoit the murderer.

Cleary had us playing a bit of a scrappy game. Didn’t give the opposition an inch.
Do you think the success of the style in the first few rounds and the subsequent failure of that style was a result of the penalty crack down introduced at the start of 2018?
Coincidentally before the announcement that the crackdown had ceased it was round 12 (conveniently just before origin 1) during that period we had conceded on average of 14.75 points a game and conceded average of 8.7 penalties a game.
Second half of the season conceded 23.6 points a game and conceded average of 7.5 penalties a game.
