Make Cronk an offer tomorrow

Paying a million for Cronk would be a big mistake in my opinion.

I am happy to stick with Brooks - hopefully playing behind a decent pack next year.

Hopefully without Lovett!!!!

I'm getting to the point where I don't think a big pack will help his game. Not unless they can help him make decisions by shouting instructions to him.

All I am saying is - give him a go with a big pack and then increase his salary or chop him on those performances.

People do (unfortunately) but you can't crucify a player when he has nothing to work with.

There is no one better on the market for 2018.

People are bemoaning the fact we let TMM and Austin go - you'd think they were Johns or Thurston the way people carry on. At very best they are ordinary and certainly no better than Brooks.

Give him a go I say (before you all say, we have) next year with Reynolds who will be the making of him.

I agree. We haven't had maturity in the halves for so long.. Will be good to see how Brooks and Reynolds work together and I'm hoping the combination will benefit Brooks greatly and give him a lot more confidence. Don't forget how well he was coming along before Moses derailed him.. I believe he he can start improving a lot once he gets back on track.

Mark gasnier ,braith and them other blokes they have occasionally on foxsports must be feeling cronk in the guts,so to speak.
cronk speaks and presents well .
i would be particularly nervous if i was braith. He could be joining the centrelink queues next footy season.

Maybe, But remember Gasnier is a legend to the Dragons. Braith is a Doggies, Roosters and Tigers former player and I think the Doggies (and 2 rooster fans) will actually remember him well.

Cronk is known for the Storm. He is a key half. A Legend. I am surprised that Sydney clubs haven't been jumping on him to sign…

I totally respect Josh Reynolds, as a player and as a 5/8\. Completely right decision to sign him. But if it was a choice between Josh and Cronk. I would have chosen Cronk and put Brooks at 5/8 to learn from him.

It's pretty clear that the biggest rumours are that Brooks has 2 more years behind the "new and improved" Wests Tigers pack. Then he comes off contract the same time as the coaches son.

I don't believe that's a coincidence, and if I were Penrith, I'd be hoping Brooks comes good because otherwise we're thanking them for giving them TMM by taking Cleary Junior.

I honestly can't wait another 2 seasons for Brooks to get his act together! He has to be the most frustrating halfback we've ever had at this club - the talent is there for all to see when he has the rare 'on' day and just when you think he is on the improve and going to step up, he goes back to square one, playing like a damn schoolboy again! He's had enough time to prove himself as a first grade halfback, imo.

If Cleary is coming in 2019 (and this is purely speculation) I would rather we go out and get an old hand like Jeff Robson to fill in for 2 seasons. He ain't no Thurston or Cronk, but he is an experienced half with a cool head and a good kicking game, who knows how to control a game. I reckon he is exactly what is needed beside an off the cuff player like Reynolds and they would make a good combination, much like when Reynolds played with Hodkinson.

I hope I'm wrong, but I really don't think the Brooks/Reynolds combo is gonna work too well for us, unless Brooks magically somehow becomes a top notch halfback during the off season. Honestly, how many more seasons are we prepared to squander waiting for him to reach his potential?

I feel exactly the same, we wasted so many years waiting for Benji to become the "potential" player he could have been now we're doing it with Brooks. I'm hearing the same lame excuses rolled out again too "he'll be better with another Pre season under his belt" "he'll be better when he has a better halves partner/forward pack/coach/shoelaces/haircut/.."
It's amusing to me how its always something or someone else who are going to somehow magically make them better.

Totally agreed on Brooks. Not sure on Marshall as he actually did develop into a good 5/8, when we had a halfback (robert Lui anyone) we made the semi's.

I am still angry that we punted everything on Brooks, Tedesco and Moses. We gave them the biggest Ego's and they think their the best thing on this earth. We spoil't them rotten.

Our plan was to have 3 new recruits teach each other how to play by osmosis? Let Marshall wonder, let Austin wonder, let TMM wonder (who seems to be better)…

We truly have never had a plan board level. The idea was to get 3 juniors who had potential to be the next Cronk, Smith and Slater. But no one asked if the halves could play together!
