Manly V Cowboys Crowd = Pathetic !

A few people who live on the north side tell me that rugby league is small there compared to Union. If that is the case, the nrl licence would be of better value to the Central Coast who could take in league on the central coast down to Manly.

Cunno and I were not talking about relocating them, Yossarian. Ditch them. A whole 12,000 people will be unhappy. Good riddance, I say.

2 issues if we dump them guys

Issue 1 Who do I direct all the hate i for them onto then We could hurt an innocent bystander

Issue 2 Some of the Manly players could make their way onto the Tigers roster
Two ex Manly names from the past that ended up on our roster
Craig Field and John Hopoate

I say keep them in the competition if either of those things happened ,but maybe only give them a $1.5 million salary cap
Then every club in the NRL can mercilessly belt them week in week out :smiling_imp:
Can you guys live with that ???

Did anyone hear Jamie Lyon say that the NRL should have foot the bill for Ferries and Buses going from Manly to the SFS? what a stroker
apparently Manly fans boycotted the match in protest because of it not being played at Brookvale, so i wonder if they'll boycott the GF at Homebush if they get there

That may well be the case but you'd be abandoning a significant chunk of Sydney. There are possibly more yawnion clubs over that way but league does have a very strong foothold. In anycase it shouldn't be an either or proposition - a Central Coast team is a different debate altogether!

Probably not GNR, they'll be the first ones to snap up tickets and put their hand up to say they stuck by the team all along.

Their fanbase are just as big a pack of tossers as the team itself.

Despite Hasler’s ramblings they would never have got a capacity at Brookvale for this game, their round 14 clash against the Cowboys attracted just 8,452, and their average is under 14,000 for their 10 games at Brookvale this year, the only time they got over 14,000 were 1 v 2 against Melbourne (20,414), Souths (19,856) and Penrith (14,623), their worst effort was 6148 against Canberra, all up they had 3 games under 9,000 in 2011, week 1 of the finals against a non Sydney team, they would have struggled to get 15,000 even at Brookvale.

Hasler is kidding himself if he thinks they would have got 20,000 for that game at Brookvale

In a perfect world it could be suggested both Manly and Central Coast should have nrl teams. However expansion is years off (2015 last I heard) and my point was that if Manly want to whinge and carry on then their licence should go to an area that is crying out for one and would no doubt appreciate it ie the Central Coast. In any case I would not suggest abandoning the clubs on the north shore they would come under the Central Coast League.

Interesting proposition Happy  but I still think give the money to the central coast.

We're talking about the North Sydney Junior clubs?

Yes, North Sydney and Manly clubs as was tried with the Northern Eagles however the powerbase (nrl licence) would need to be given to the Central Coast to avoid a repeat of what happened to the Northern Eagles.

As someone who has had a bit to deal with both areas, it wouldn't work having North Sydney juniors run out of the Central Coast. It's a long way from wherever (Norths) Brothers play these days up to Budgewoi. Even the most northern teams (Berowra and Asquith) is a long trip to anywhere on the CC. Woy Woy and Umina is still a 45 minute trip. Hills Hawks couldn't do it. Also there about 10 times as many teams in the CC as North Sydney… There are basically 4/5 teams in most North Sydney junior comps. By comparison the CC u/10s has 3 divisions with 11 or so teams in each.

So you'd have to have 2 separate comps... From a logistics point of view having a joint Manly/Norths junior comp makes a lot more sense.

Good idea to have the two comps, take your point about the travel. Base the nrl club in Gosford with the two comps feeding into whatever that NRL team ends up being called. A similar model to the Balmain and Wests comps and Wests Tigers.

Yeah that could work. When Norths were a first grade team their junior rep teams had a lot of players from the Central Coast. I don't think many Norths juniors would make a combined side but they can try! Mitchell Pearce I believe is a Norths junior.

u wouldnt even need manly for the nrl to have a central coast/north shore club. central coast bears would probably play a game every year at north sydney oval (on heritage round) and they would keep their north sydney juniors. they would maybe have 2 teams for the juniors, north sydney & central coast (just like wests tigers presently have wests & balmain) so the juniors wouldnt have to travel too far. the nrl team would be based in gosford ofcourse

Serious arrogance seems to be at play.
