Marshall and Farah

I see no differences between 2016 and 2018.

If you see no differences in this club, this team, the football that is being played, the way the team is coached between 2016 and now, I see no point in continuing a conversation here with you. I look forward to your next 20 or 30 posts vaguely rambling about accepting mediocrity without any ideas on how a club and team actually gets from point A to point B when the differences between 2016 & 2018 are what you need to understand as necessary components to climb out of mediocrity. It doesnt happen in a season.

We've been mediocre for most of our existence. The club isn't improving.

I can't agree Gallagher. The improvements off the field are obvious. Salary cap under control, what seems to be a unified Board and a more than capable CEO and manager of football operations. And a better coach, regardless of how long he may be at the Tigers.
Off field improvements will inevitably lead to on field improvements.
You have to have the foundations in place first. That appears to be well in place.
I personally am looking forward - now - to the on field improvements that I am confident will follow.

Three or four top class signings would probably help me see the improvment. Re-signing Farah and Marshall and our usual half decent new signings will just confirm to me my current thoughts of the club.

Lol I'm the last person to accept mediocrity.

As for the one small ground sell out. Pointless me trying to argue that. It would be easy to mind you but totally pointless and a further waste of my time.

Lol. You give up as easy as our team

Signing Farah was a masterstroke, if you dont think we needed a d/h at the time we signed him, you have no idea at all. As well your not going to get a better d/h at that time of the season wanting to play for the Tigers. At Farah's age , he will only be good for another season , so perfect timing to help develope Liddle.

We failed to make the 8 so I cant see how it was a masterstroke, A panicky move by a coach out of ideas and it failed.

Well at least we were in with a chance to make the 8, than no chance at all, and without those mid year signings of Farah and Mbye, we may have had to try an avoid a wooden spoon.

Mbye signed for 4 years. Farah for 9 games. I have a problem understanding the use of a short contract. If it was just to get us into the 8 this year it failed.

I don't recall it being stated that the short signing of Farah was to get into the 8\. If you polled the spectators going out each game I think you would find about ninety percent agreeing with the signing - after them seeing the improved standard of play most games since the signing. Haven't you also noticed that he is the unpaid captain on the field. And for the better

Ive said all along it was just a feel good story to please the fans. Im sure 90% do love him back.

But no one would have been happy if we signed Cam Smith for just 9 weeks. Most would have said it wss pointless.

If he does retires he will stay at the club and take on a coaching role.

its hardly pointless.

If we believe the hype Damien Cook has improved heaps and was also attributed to Farah assistance. He has shown to be a smarty in using tactics and being the strict type I would love to see him have a go at being coach - even if for only half a season on trial. He also understands the positions of halves very well, as plays them, he knows defence and attack so I imagine we could do a lot worse as assistant coach. And he has outscored Cammy smith in tries by 50%.

Be honest. Would you have called signing Smith for 9 weeks then a into a coaching role a masterstroke by Cleary?

Farah was different because he ensured a few big crowds especially for 250th game when walloped Souths when pretending he was dead to earn penalties- that game will become part of folk lore. Farah is better than Smith because he threatens to and actually scores more tries thus putting the opposition into worry mode. Farah can play half positions and probably is better in defence than Smith as well so more to learn from Farah. As well he has Tiger blood and doesn't mind making the boys walk on eggshells after a poor game - no laughing matter like when the Woodsy was capt.

if only the rest of the players in are squad had the passion that robbie , benji and chris lawrence have we would be a much better team. for all there faults robbie and benji have at least given there all this year, and if they want to stay around next year as part of the squad i say go for it.

You my friend - with that statement, have lost any credibility you have had.

Farah better than Smith - Wow!!!!! that is the joke of the century. I absolutely hate Smith but I cannot deny he is the best DH in the past 20 years.

As has already been pointed out the Farah situation had many more levels to it.

I agree that bringing Farah over to WTs was a good move on many levels - actually it was a no brainer. We had the spot available that needed to be filled, it wasn't a lot of money or commitment to a player, we needed a quality DH desperately, we were able to close the book an old wound to our club's history and help foster and enhance our perceived culture, we improved our squad, our results, our crowd attendance, etc etc. It definitely gave us a better shot to resurrect our season than we would have otherwise had.
To blame Farah or Cleary's decision to recruit him, for not making the 8 is way too simplistic. There are far too many other contributing factors.
I would like to see Farah stay on to play for 1 more year only, and with Benj, unfortunately I think he is done physically and probably couldn't manage. Certainly he should be given some sort of mentor/coaching role with the squad. Benji's decision will rest on who the club can recruit and how Reynolds steps up, so it would have been nice to be able to hold out on making it. Howeve,r he deserves a proper send off so they will have to announce something you would think.

Could Cam Smith do to Antony Watts what Farah did? Could Cammy score another 25 tries to claim Farah's try-scoring hooker record? Could Cammy lay down "dead" whilst getting abused by Sam Burgess than repeat every swear word that Sam uttered during his knocked out time? Could Cammy tell off the Board then be welcomed back with open arms two years later? Could Cammy gobble down a kebab full of garlic sauce and babaganoush and come back for seconds?

But Cammy wins in the grub dept - I can't recall Farah being accused of such.

And all of that without mentioning the coaches!

Didnt you accuse Farah of twisting Moses' injured ankle in a game?It sounded a bit grubby.

Not that I minded it

I think sometimes they give too much.
I just think since '05 everything has been about one or both of these guys, with average results. Time to move on.
