Marshall dropped

I’d like to see a little more urgency from Adam Douehi when chasing offensive kicks. It appeared that many of the Tigers didn’t care enough to chase a game breaker kick in the final 2 minutes?

I genuinely think it’s just how he runs. I doubt he is just jogging over because he doesn’t care - those big long legs don’t make him look super fast but he’s not slow.

So we have conceded 11 tries down our right edge this season and according to the fox sports stats, beni himself let in 6 of those. Reynolds isn’t a great defender but surely he can do better than that. I don’t think Benji will be out of the team long

Surely 11 out of those 11 TRIES have directly been attributed to Nofoaluma..

At least 11, probably even 12 tries are his fault.

Benji has been hard done by to be dropped. He usually causes trouble for the Raiders' defence. He has Reynolds covered and imo bringing him into the team is a retrograde step. Energy does not make up for the lack of polish in a half. Josh should be paying Benji half his contract.

Totally agree with this. Josh will bring "*energy*" but we need organisation and poise, implementing a game plan.

My prediction is that Reynolds bursts into the game buzzing to show how much "*energy*" he has and he will run when he should have passed and stifle our backline. If we need someone to close out a game, Reynolds is the guy you want?

If thats your main concern, then we'll be ok. Benji as an alternative to close out a game is laughable.

Yes the Titans one under the sticks from the kick at the end was his fault as despite chasing it from the sideline passing 7 other Wests Tigers players he didn't dive..almost forgot that one so you are right..

Benji has a great record against raiders when they were rubbish. How did he go against them since 2018? The exact same as the rest of our team, bad. The whole thing about him being 18-3 against them doesn’t change our chances against them at all it’s just a number.

I strongly disagree with this statement. When you bring in an inferior player into a crucial position whose form really doesn't warrant the promotion, what outcome are you hoping for? The Raiders have been good for some time and by writing what you have you undersell both the Raiders and the achievements of one of our greatest ever players.

The message it sends to me is you can be an underperformer on huge money and get a call up to the NRL. What are we trying to achieve?

You can’t disagree with a a fact... having Benji in the team since 2018 hasn’t changed how we do against them, we still get flogged by them routinely. Marshall has a good record against them but that doesn’t change anything at all.

The point is that Madge is showing he’s willing to drop anyone who isn’t performing - even Benji. He’s directly led to 6 tries being scored against us (according to Fox sports) which is more than anyone in the comp. I don’t think Reynolds is better than Benji but I think we needed a shake up and Madge needed to show everyone that mediocrity is not acceptable.

**Marshall and Brooks are both superior to Reynolds on any give day, even if playing poorly.** Benji's dropping to me appears a gross overreaction to a disappointing loss. Change for the sake of change Is not going to achieve a lot. Benji does play well against the Raiders and we will miss him.

Now that the change has been made, I expect Maguire to be consistent for the remainder of the season.

This is simply rubbish. Whether you like him as a player or not, it's just not true. Talk about emotions clouding judgement.

oh sorry i forgot about Nofo's outstanding game against newcastle a real defensive rock.
Great attacker horrible defender
For 5 years its been the centres fault or the coaches fault or wait for it that old chestnut Robbies fault that Nofo let that try in. Always an excuse with Nofo

Noffa has issues, absolutely he does. But he also has massive upside. Whereas your man is a wet lettuce in every aspect

Jennings didnt have a great game but is normally sound defensively just one of those nights.
Nofo's side leaks points week after week
Jennings mat be back sometime throughout the year you never know he is still ok depth to have if need be

I'd love to have Rueben Garrick on our right flank. He has genuine pace, can score a try, defend, kick goals and he would be resonably priced.

The Wests Tigers have been reported for a bio-security incident involving co-captain Benji Marshall.

The veteran five-eighth was sent home to self isolate after approaching Seven News reporter Michelle Bishop and exchanging a friendly hug and kiss on the cheek in the car park.

LATEST: @WestsTigers star Benji Marshall has had a “social distancing incident” with a female reporter at Tigers training. The reporter has been sent for a COVID 19 test. A kiss on the cheek has resulted in Benji being separated from the team. @9NewsSyd

Under the NRL's strict bio-security rules Marshall will remain at home on Thursday while the reporter undergoes a COVID-19 test and the matter was reported to the NRL.

Just goes to show you, we can all get caught up in life and forget what kind of world we are living in at the moment Off to be tested #innocent #awkward #apologies

In a statement, the club said assuming a negative result is returned, no further action will be required by Marshall or Wests Tigers.

Meanwhile, halfback Luke Brooks says the entire Wests Tigers squad is on notice after former world player of the year Marshall's surprise demotion from the team following the weekend's loss to Gold Coast. "Especially with someone of his name to be dropped, that just shows no one's position is safe if we're not playing good enough footy," said Brooks. "There's a whole other reserve grade team who are training really well at the moment and who are ready to come in to the side."

Even at 35, Marshall is running second in the Dally M Medal count after four rounds of the competition.

Sly benj, sly

Just listening to the player interviews from today, all of them are shocked about Benji being dropped and they all mentioned that it’s put them all on notice. Exactly what Madge would’ve wanted.

Lol , Nofa appeared to be jogging because other players were closer, however he still managed to passed Deouhi and others.

Changes had to be made and Madge needed to make a statement. Dropping Jennings and reaaranging the bench wouldn't have changed anything. Dropping Marshall was as much about Madge making a statement to the playing group as it was about form.

I'd love to have Rueben Garrick on our right flank. He has genuine pace, can score a try, defend, kick goals and he would be resonably priced.

Why don't we ever recruit these sort of players from other clubs? He was available and ticked every box for the sort of player we were after. Yet he took a backup role at Manly instead of us. We recruit young kids, still a few years away from first grade, or experienced nobodies like Jennings.

Lisone at the Titans is another one. A young hard running prop with a good motor player of the year in NYC, yet he went to the Titans. Did we even make an offer? He's not without faults, but he'd walk into our pack at the moment.

I agree. Garrick is also a smart footballer and comes from the home of backline production, Gerringong. Momorovski also has the smarts on the field. We need more smart footy players.
