Marty Taupau Wants TIgers Return

I would most certainly welcome Taupau back, but didn't I hear last night on 360 that the Tigers are chasing S.Boyd?

I think you'll find that they said the Titans are after him, as they have just offered Shannon Boyd $750K and the Raiders said they can not match that.

Bugger. That's decent $$ for a front rower

I think some people must live in fantasy world when they start putting values on players heads. Half a million a year doesn't buy a rep player these days. Marty's value would be in excess of 750 a year. His stats of late are better than Tamalomo (excuse the spelling) and he is on a mil a season.

Anyway its all hypothetical, we are neville no chance

Im with you on this SC. Why anyone would think you could get Marty on the cheap doesnt make any sense.

Because you don't base someone's value on 2 games of football. He has done buggerall at Manly for the most part. You don't pay that kind of money to a player who hasn't proven he's a consistent performer.

He played 21 games last year for an average of 163m in attack and 23 tackles. The year before he did 138m and 27 tackles in 20 games. That's 41 games. Seems pretty consistent to me.

Supposedly Marty is on around $750k at Manly, there's no way I would get him for that much and neither would Ivan. I wouldn't pay any more then $400k and even that's a bit of a stretch for me. I don't rate him too high honestly I don't see why people rave about him so much, I would rather buy somebody else for less that is probably as good or if not better than him instead of wasting our money.

Actually think he played well all of last year and has continued with that form this year so wasnt basing it on two games.

All lot of forum experts do not rate him but one things is for certain if he came onto the market I bet you plenty of CEO and coaches would rate him and would be willing to part with a ton of cash. The Chooks paid close to a mill for Angus C and I know who is a international and who has not played rep footy

There are those who would point out that Aaron Woods has similar figures "and there's more to it than just stats".

I would take Marty back and let the club figure out the asking price.

Considering what is public about our cap, I think we can afford two high profile players. I'm happy to wait and one be Nathan Cleary, but selecting the other now or soon at least would be better for the club.

So go hard for Taupau, Boyd, or another highly thought of forward.

750k for a front rower? no way.. 600k tops. Thats good money for just running straight without thinking. They only play 40-50 minutes a game so that much money is a waste. Id take Taupau bu at around 500k

Our forward stats last week were a pretty accurate account of our performance and it seems most agreed on that.

I actually had the closed captions turned on and the text said Tigers… Excellent prop to add to the rotation if true.

I heard on the radio over the weekend that the Titans have made him a very strong offer that the Raiders are going to find almost impossible to match. Whether the Tigers are also in the mix I dont know
