Matt Utai - Second tier contract

Does any one know if Matt Utai is allowed to play every game in the NRL given he has signed a second
tier contract. What restrictions are in place

Are Wests Tiger allowed to change him to one of their 25 contact players and dump another player?

There aren't any restrictions on the number of games.

The rules are that the top 25 paid players takes up $4.1mil, then there is a further $350k allowance for those outside the top 25 paid players. Plus $250,000 for NYC players who don't sit in the top 25.

So, players from any of the 3 groups can play as many games as they want in the NRL.

The only thing that could jeopardize it is if Utai has match payments included in his contract and he gets to the point where those payments force his salary into the top 25 and us over the cap.

That said, I would be curious to know if Utai is on FG match payments. He would be the type of player that it could have been offered to. If he gets dropped unnecessarily, we will know why.
