There was nothing honourable about what Wests tigers did to Michael Potter. Jason Taylor should do the honourable thing and resign forthwith.

Come off it Newtown - he has a contract valid for another 2 years.

Are you going to pay out. No else is.

Quite a number of WT players had contracts nut were allowed to leave the club well before their contract expired. Take Adam Blair for example - not only did he not fulfil his contract but apparently Wests Tigers are still paying him whilst he plays for Broncos.

Be that as it may - two points.

1\. WT haven't got enough dough to shout the team a round of Big Macs.

2\. You sign a contract - you abide by it.

I don't agree with paying players and coaches to play for someone else or coach someone else. That is why we are partly in this predicament in the first place - we don't need to add to it.

A coach needs players of his choosing - Taylor inherited just about everyone in the team. He has been allowed to buy a couple of fringe players because that is all the coin we have. In many respects he has just about as many restrictions on him as Potter had.
He can't go and play for them - yes he can drop them and put even worse players in.

As usual the WT supporters want to take the easy way out - get rid of the coach.
Why not - we could go for the record of having more coaches than any other team in the NRL.

There is no easy way - we have to put up with it.

We are short of a number of players in the roster (about 5). It looks as though we will have to find them in the lower grades. There is talent but my concern is that we may not have the correct people to nurture it. Webster and Head should have been involved with WTs; both have had a lot to do with many of the younger players through SG Ball. It is disappointing to listen to Head and know he is correct. No wonder the young players play for him.

There is no money and players were let go to free up cash to rebuild in the next few years. There is good forward talent in the 20's and Sironen and Seve to come through. This is where any extra cash needs to go. The problem is that these guys aren't ready yet.

I was all for Taylor revamping your style of play. We needed some starch and quality in defense. Whilst I see it sometimes, I don't see it for a full 60'mins let alone 80.

Dumping Taylor just digs our hole deeper and is the easy way out. We chose a coach and gave him a contract and he deserves an opportunity to fulfill it. If improvement isn't there at the end make an appropriate decision then.

Comparing him to Potter is so childish and in my opinion condescending to both coaches. Fact is many thought Potter was crap before his dumping yet he had a higher quality of player to call on than Taylor has. People want a quick fix and if you watched yesterday it is clear that it just won't happen!

I believe that there is a get out clause to taylors conract for the club, if he does not get the team to a certain spot by next year he can be sacked with out penalty. hope some one on here knows a bit more about this and can share with the rest of us.

I can only hope you are correct but with our luck the clause probably reads"win one game during the season"

this info was passed onto me forum member. I don't know if it's true or BS, But time WILL tell…........ No we are not in a position to pay him out but there is a secret performance clause that kicks in next year - the team must make the 8 otherwise his contract is null and void. His final year 2017 the team must make top 4\. Both results would be offset if there were more than 6 of the top 25 players out injured for periods in excess of 6 weeks.Paul Fletcher (our most successful coach ever - albeit in NSW CUP) would be considered as the caretaker coach in 2016 beyond round 13, and depending on the performance of our under 20s (which will be scrapped end of 2016) Kimmorley would have the inside running to be head coach in 2017\. At this stage our maximum spend on head coach is $400k p.a. Nathan Brown was interviewed for role last year and did not impress as he made demands re roster which would cost $2 million+ he also wanted $450k+
By the way Toovey will be available at min $600k; Brian Smith is going to UK to coach @$500k (club would consider as Football Manager for $300k to help a coach such as Kimmorley or Fletcher) Griffith was asking $500k and was dismissed as being not capable even as an assistant.
I personally don't have a solution and my inside info suggests the club is in the same position - where are not an attractive proposition at present. The big issue for the club is the resolution of the Balmain Leagues club site which would revitalise the joint venture and put us back in the game. I cannot emphasise what a big issue this is and how much time & effort the Board and the NRL putting into it. Its all down to Harry T either he steps in or the joint venture will wither & die ......

I remember reading about it, from memory he had to have the side in a certain position mid next year, or the 3rd year would be voided.
I really hope that article I read was correct, we can't sustain 2 more years of Taylors structures and selections.

Thanks for the info, if accurate its a sad state of affairs.

If we pay bottom dollar for a coach is anyone really surprised you get a coach who takes us to the bottom of the table.

"Win one game during the season" would fall into Wt's current acceptance of mediocrity.

Contract clause or not - make no mistake - if we're in the same position next season as we are now the knives will already have Taylor's blood on them!

IMO we need a coach that the players will want to have a big dig for.

Give him all the attack, defence, halves, assistants-whatevers he needs!!! As long as he is great at organising these assistants, mentally preparing this group of young players and getting them inspired, confident, and willing to leave nothing in the tank every single game, every single player.

This will most likely be a younger coach. Coaches that have made the most out of young teams over the last few years could do this. Head? Maybe. Payten? I don't follow the lower grades/U20s so closely but this is where the next coaches will come from.

There is a big difference in how best to handle players of the current day than in years past - gen Y and all that stuff. You don't need to pander to them but you do need to handle them differently.

Find this coach and we will be streets ahead of where we are now.
