Manly get govt money, Penrith get Govt money, Bulldogs get govt money, Dragons get govt money. What have we been doing? Massive area!

Seems to be a pretty big endorsement for Campbelltown by our CEO. Good to see,

He's complaining that Tigers don't seem to be getting any love from the pre-election promises. Our heartlands are not swing seats.

ALP are promising 10m for upgrading Brookie should they win the election, as a sweetener to try and swing the Warringah seat (never held by ALP).

They also need to be a bit proactive about it. He's basically whinging because they're not getting funding, but both Penrith and Parra went to the State Govt about being the big western Sydney stadium with plans, and it seems as though we're waiting for them to come to us. We need to sort out the plans for Campbelltown Stadium and a centre of excellence there and/or a community centre type centre of excellence at Leichhardt in conjunction with the pool and fields in the area, then we might be a change of getting assistance. If we sit twiddling our thumbs, nothing is going to happen.

i dont know how well people know the campbelltown area but there is plenty of vacant/un-used land around campbelltown sports stadium
if the tigers invest or propose a plan, similar to that of penrith, where we invest in the community, create jobs, and a sporting environment for the youth, we could get the money from the government to help improve our stadium.
the issue is that we a re a joint venture, and to put money into campbelltown only will be causing harm to the leichardt peoples.
if we had the money to invest in our area, it will allow for us to build a centre of sports, lifestyle and gaming. our stars could have a huge training gym with all the mod cons that we seem to lack (think high altitude training suits etc), we could merge wests into it and have an education centre in there in which we could train people for work in the real world. makes us look good, allows us to get better and have a more respectable larger stadium
obviously it would cost a lot of money and would be a long term project, but to be honest i think that is at the bottom of the priorities atm, with the tigers coming 2nd last and all flak that comes with that.

My advice for Mister Mayor is to work out what you want money for, present a proper business case and present it to the federal politicians post haste.

I can't believe he's been sitting on his hands while his opposite numbers got the jump on him.

Sounds reactive than proactive for mine …... Pull your finger out Mister Mayor and move.

Upgrade leichardt oval

That would require a lot of coin for not as much gain as what Campbelltown has IMO. Better to really focus on upgrading out there and turning it into a colosseum.

leichardt sells out most times
ive never seen campbelltown sell out
there is reasoning to upgrade both
increase the seating numbers and facility at leichardt, increases people present but takes away from the suburban ground feel
upgrading c'town as there is no real heritage there with it already being upgraded etc, theres no fortress c'town compared to leichardt, but seeing as it doesnt sell out will it increase attendance? will the cash we put in be given back to us with the stadium upgrades?
the issue is we have like 5 home grounds, eels and penrith only have 1, so half of their games are at a stadium which would be upgraded. from memory we play 4 games at leichardt and 4 at c'town the rest in the city fields and one in NZ
spending hundred of thousands on 4 games a year is a bit of a waste and we need to decide if we need to play at ANZ etc just for the extra cash we get, or if we play more in our local fields, get large crowd numbers and keep our fans who may not want to travel to the city for games happy.

i havent gone to an ANZ game for ages, just because of the cost of admission, food drinks plus train tickets/parking, compare that to c'town games where its a 10 minute drive, free parking, $10 buck admission (may be slightly under selling that) cheaper food and drinks and less hassle getting in and out. i know where i prefer to go

No one is going to upgrade Leichhardt. Its like putting a band-aid over a bullet wound. No amount of work is going to save it. Also LO didn't sell out once this yr an twice drew under 10K and also drew under 10K last round last yr. Thats hardly ''selling out most times''

As for Campbelltown, i gave up on the renovation dream long ago, i think the best bet is to aim for a centre of excellence type facility that we'll most likely base ourselves out of, while still maintaining the 4-4-4 split, until if and when LO is no longer viable and we can play 8 games at C-town and 4 at ANZ. Thats wishful thinking i know, but stranger things have happened i guess.

Let's be honest, LO gets 4 games of NRL a year, and bugger all else. Why would a government throw millions at it for that purpose? At least Brookie gets 12 nrl games. I'm sure if WT played 8 games at either ground and shared it with another significant sport, the money would come in but 4 games? Pfft hospitals and schools.

What happened to the underground walkway at Leumeah railway station we were meant to get at the last election …. What happened to that ?

GNR
i agree with you
didnt realise crowds had dropped off at LO
i would be happy if we were to cut out LO completely or just play one or two sunday arvo games there
and either play all games in the city or half in the city and half at Ctown and invest in a centre much like penriths grand plan thing, im sure the Wanders would be up for sharing it if we could build it before parra/penrith, and built it well enough to make it the best in the area
LO from my last experience 3 years ago or so was terrible, you were walking in piss to get to the toilet, as great of an oval it is for the tigers we need to be realistic about the situation. that place would be closed down if it was operational all the time, the hygiene folk would have a field day in there fining the place
C'town is relatively new, the club is right there, theres a training oval behind it, across the road is vacant or unused land which could be purchased for the centre
like you said farfetched but who knows, i would say its lower down on the to do list with the way the tigers are rolling atm and the axe apparently looming over potters head, marshall situation etc
as it was said before rather than whinging we need to be proactive, invest some time and money in our future and the local area, form some mutual relationships and aim for a centre which the local government can see benefit in with job positions, training, education and other facets to gain the backing and hopefully some financial assistance. there's no pool centres in campbelltown, thats a plus if we can put an aquatic centre in there which the boys could use as well.

it's there knuckles, its called the rainwater tunnels haha

When Campbelltown got $20m to upgrade around 2008, I remember the then Manly CEO stated something like, "I nearly choked on my corn flakes when I read that. They only play 3 games per year and we play 12 here…."

Just on the Brookvale promise, it has come from the federal government and Manly needs to find another $20m. They won't get it from the state government (Centralised Stadium policy) so it only leaves local government and Warringah Council has no chance.

Just a political stunt by Labor to make Tony spend more time in his electorate during the campaign.

So the boss admitted we suck at securing funding. Don't quite see how that's an endorsement of anything.
