WESTS TIGERS BEAT EELS 31-12 TO MAKE IT SIX STRAIGHT

Wests Tigers recorded their sixth straight win in the Telstra Premiership today with a resounding 31 -12 victory over Parramatta Eels.
Wests Tigers winger Matt Utai gave his team-mates and fans a massive scare when he took his time in clearing up a kick through from Parramatta second-rower Taniela Lasalo in the 6th minute. Replays showed Utai grounded the ball just before Lasalo placed his hands on it.
Centre Blake Ayshford brought up 100 points in his NRL career for Wests Tigers when he crossed for the opening try in the ninth minute after talented half-back Robert Lui used his strength to brush off 3 defenders to offload to the centre for a 4-0 lead.

Five-eighth Benji Marshall failed to convert the try from out wide.
A beautiful inside pass by lock Chris Heighington put full-back Tim Moltzen into the clear before he drew in Utai to send the winger over for his first try much to the delight of cheering Wests Tigers Members chanting "Utai, Utai" for an 8-0 lead.
Marshall converted the try for a 10-0 lead after 22 minutes.
Some clever "tunnel ball' play by Utai 40 metres out from a deflected Marshall clearing kick saw Marshall step and weave his way to score a memorable try in the 28th minute to break the Wests Tigers Club Points Scoring record set by 2005 premiership winning full-back Brett Hodgson.
Hodgson's record was 786 points in 102 games (38 tries, 317 goals).
Marshall converted his own try to give Wests Tigers a 16-0 lead after 29 minutes.
The score remained that way until half-time.
2nd Half
Utai was denied his second try in the 42nd minute when he was taken into touch in-goal in trying to plant the ball down in a two man tackle.
Parramatta took advantage of consecutive penalties when a cut out pass by five-eighth Jarryd Hayne saw winger Chris Hicks dive over in the corner in the 47th minute for a 16-4 scoreline.
Full-back Luke Burt converted the try from the sideline for a 16-6 scoreline after 49 minutes.
The Eels got back to 16-10 in the 52nd minute when a crossfield bomb by Hayne was spilt by winger Mitch Brown and into the arms of centre Ben Smith to score out wide. Burt converted the try for a 16-12 scoreline in favour of Wests Tigers.
Ayshford gave Wests Tigers some breathing space when he brushed off Hayne and Mark Horo to race 40 metres to dive over in the corner for his second try in the 59th minute for a 20-12 lead.
Marshall converted the try from the sideline for a 22-12 scoreline after 60 minutes.
It became 24-12 when Marshall converted a penalty goal after Parramatta were ruled offiside a few minutes later.
Hooker and captain Robbie Farah secured victory five minutes from full-time when he landed a field goal attempt for a 25-12 lead.
Winger Beau Ryan then topped the win off with a try in ther right corner from a Marshall cut out pass for a 29-12 lead.
Marshall converted the try on full-time for a 31-12 win.
