Meeting of Magpie Members and Supporters

We will be holding an informal meeting on Sunday the 15th of July at Paramatta RSL at 11:00am to discuss the Wests Tigers proposal for 1 NSW Cup side in 2013.

This is so as members and supporters we can decide what is the best way to tackle the issue prior to the vote. It is important we are all on the same page.
\
\
I also wish to place a motion that if the Wests Tigers proposal is rejected by members, that we now commence preparations for standing alone in the NSW Cup in 2013.

We do not want a repeat of what has happened to our proud club this year.

Galahs by going it alone again in 2013 how do propose to prevent what has happened in 2012 ??

I understand we will have more time to prepare , but if we lack the resources again I can't see how it will change

Just asking the question , thats all

Parramatta RSL …why on earth isn't the meeting out at Campbelltown the heart and sole of the Magpies is it that most of the people concerned don't live in the area? .All the drama about the Weststigers never giving the Campbelltown or the Magpies a go and the meeting of the members and supporters are at Parramatta .This says it all to me the whole issue is a JOKE!!

You don't want a repeat of what has happened to Wests this year??? I would have thought the results from this year would be enough reason to avoid going it alone next year if you reject the Wests Tigers offer of one State Cup team. You'll be lucky to score 50 points in a season.

Galahs just to clarify - who is the "we" you refer to? Also, let's assume the Wests members vote no but WT refuse to provide the Magpies with excess players. What is the plan?

I'm confused. According to the SMH article from June 14:
http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/league-news/wests-balmain-boards-to-meet-decision-looms-on-feeder-teams-20120613-20ak0.html

The five boards would separately consider the proposal outlined by Humphreys at a later date but
members of the Wests and Balmain football clubs will make **the final decision** when they vote at special meetings. Watson-Hayes said a meeting of Western Suburbs football club members had already been scheduled for June 30.

Have these plans changed? As June 30 is tomorrow…

there will not be a vote on the 30th.

Fair question Yoss, regarding who is the "we" you refer to Galahs, considering the board hadn't even had the meeting to brief members until yesterday.

No meeting was held yesterday.

WT have made it clear the current feeder arrangement (all players including wests juniors must play for BRET) will not change under current coach & CEO

Thanks wtfl1981 for clearing that up, the way the SMH article posted by Leich-a-tiger reads is " Watson-Hayes said a meeting of Western Suburbs football club members had already been scheduled for June 30." So is the article wrong or did wsfc cancel the meeting to consider their options?

There was never a meeting scheduled for the 30th.

What there was, was a date a decision had to be made by so that preparations for the 2013 season could get underway early.

This hasn't happened and hence is breaking the promise given to members at the AGM.

We know enough about the conditions put forward by the board to have our informal meeting.
Magpie supporters and members are invited to the informal meeting as a way of galvanising support before the offical meeting is held.

A neutral venue was chosen to ensure no external pressures are placed on members to speak their mind.

The informal meeting is going ahead on the 15h regardless if the Magpies Board makes a decision by then or not.

When it comes time at the WT Board Meeting to vote on this proposal, will the Wests Group vote as 1 or separate identities?

Has anyone heard how the Balmain members will vote? (If they vote against this scenario, its virtually buried)

Not sure on that one Watto, but Galahs and whoever he can muster up will be voting against the merging of state cup sides.

Surely not willow!!

I was under the impression that galahs was seeking an open, unbiased & balanced discussion on the merits of the proposal so that members could make up their mind which way to vote!

I'm sure having this covert meeting at a "neutral" venue has nothing to do with antagonising or prosthelytizing to shove a pre-determined separatist agenda down the throats of a few feeble-minded morons who have an axe to grind against their own club!!

Irrespective of their stance on WT and particular issues, they are entitled to vote for what they feel is in the best interests of WSRLFC.

I'm just querying whether any of the proponents of the proposed State Cup merger will be present at this meeting to offer a balance to the stand-alone supporters CB??

If this is truly an information meeting for members surely both sides would be represented and available for questions from the undecided members!

However if NOT - as it appears - Galahs should come clean and make it clear that he & this meeting represent a breakaway faction who are not formally aligned to the WSDRLFC and whose position is to bloody-mindedly oppose a combined WT State Cup team regardless of WT's proposal!

The subterfuge about using a neutral venue to promote free speech is BS - if their stand-alone position has been pre-determined and is ultimately non-negotiable!!

Plus - I keep hearing about all the great facilities in the Cambo area - regardless of neutrality - if their focus was genuinely as local and community-based as they claim - surely there are any number of clubs (Bowling Clubs, RSLs etc) in the Cambo region that are not in any way aligned to the WSDRLFC - and could have provided a LOCAL option for this forum!

I am not involved in any organising.. But with my knowledge of various forums, the discussions will prob involve legacy of a few things…

- structure and presence of (non NRL) senior football in the macarthur area (i.e. losing another team to concord)
- WT promise of a deliverance of a centre of excellence
- management of Wests Junior League and links to Group 6
- consequences of any financial collapse of Balmain Leagues/FC
- legacy of Western Suburbs Football club brand and relevant club board structure
- fight for better recognition of 'wests brand' in WT (rather than the perceived extension of balmain image)
- WT games at Campbelltown (how many and when played)

ITS NOT about simply blocking the proposed single WT nsw cup team for the sake of it.

WSDRLFC is a part owner of WT and deserves a fair say in the structure and running from top to bottom.

**WSDRLFC is a part owner of WT and deserves a fair say in the structure and running from top to bottom.**

That "fair say" comes via their representation on the Board of WT mate!

As for this so-called forum of galahs addressing the above issues - how the F is that supposed to happen without representatives from the WSDRLFC (those representing both sides of the matter at hand) or reps from WT to address the questions relating to the proposal???

This advertised meeting seems to purely be intended for a few "renegades" to espouse their anti-WT rhetoric and bile, to deliberately misinform the ignorant and to "galvanise support/votes" through unbalanced propaganda!!

Without any club reps having a right of reply - this forum has zero legitimacy!!!!

As you stated - you're not an organiser - so I'm not accusing you of this agenda - but it appears to be transparent from galahs who has still refused to answer the simple question of "who is the 'we' you refer to as organisers of the meeting?"
