Membership Debacle

'Each year we get that stupid hat and those key carrying things. This year we are yet to get the crap cooler bag'.

I am a proud member and have been since 2008, one thing that still bugs me is the quality of the merchandise that is given to members as part of their membership kit.

The difference in quality between a media cap and a members cap is huge. Surely it's not too much to ask that members kit items be of the same quality.

after reading all these comments, i wanted to see the number of members signed up and make a guess/estimate for the revenue per year that members bring in.

went to Tigers website - went to season > membership and got:
You have tried to access a page that has either moved or no longer exists. Click HERE to return to the Home page
http://www.weststigers.com.au/default.aspx?s=membership-2010-landing

I would love to say that they are re-vamping the website, but the '2010' thing in the failed address points to another explanation.

No cooler bags here yet! Wonder how many phone calls it will take to recieve them? My member tickets worked at Campbelltown…strange. I am so glad you got results Glen.

4 of 5 cooling bags arrived yesterday, dont be too disappointed if they don't come, they are nothing special. My membership tickets worked at LO but not at CSS. Strange !

I'm a Swans member as well as a Tigers member and I can tell you the Swans went through a similiar debacle with regards to its membership department a few years ago. The service was non existent, they put the price up and had system issues which caused chaos. A lot of members left because of it. The clubs board sacked a few people and revamped the whole department. They now have a membership department which is absolutely brilliant. When issues occur they are dealt with professionally. We even have a membership manager come on to our fansite to answer questions and generally keep us up to date.

The Tigers if they are to retain their members need to learn from the Swans experience and start treating its members as an important part of the club. Saying your members are important must be backed up with action otherwise it's just empty rhetoric.

So true Al, the front office is also the front line and it seems we are lacking there as well. Never under-estimate good people skills in your front line - they represent you!!

Apparently we are not alone though, a friend of mine is a Swans supporter and WAS a Titans supporter and says the difference in treatment was absolutely chalk and cheese.

It seems we still have a lot to learn, and hopefully Humphreys knows it and fixes it.

No cooler bag here but not really fussed anyway as I find myself rarely using any of that garb.

The issue I have found over the years is that the marketing and membership departments share roles in many areas causing alot of confusion etc

No cooler bag here either but got my crappy members hat, one day when i have time will tell you about purchasing $1100 worth of seats, only for 3 people @ Wests St George final in 2010 it was a classic rip off. I can understand how Glen & everyone else feels.

Cooler bag has arrived. Cheapy bag that cant hold a 6 pack. Faded white/orange/black stripes. Made in china. Member 2012 logo with no wests tigers name anywhere.

Worst cooler bag I have ever seen! Very very cheaply made and when you close it up you cannot even seal it to keep the one beer it fits cold!
Not happy Wests Tigers!

Do people really expect quality good with their memberships?

I agree it is crap, mine went straight in the bin, but if you want A grade stuff you must be prepared for the membership prices to rise, the items are secondary, I keep my caps, collect em…and the badges & cards, but the rest usually gets turfed pretty quick

I'm not worried about the quality of most of this stuff, but what's the use if the Cooler Bag doesn't fit a 6-Pack of XXXX Cans???

Mate probably makes sense most NSW people can't handle their grog 3 beers and they start raving like loons they are going to win SOO and that Moltzen will be NSW halfback

lmao… Maybe they knew the majority of Members were from NSW and it was probably designed for a 6-Pack of West Coast Coolers :roll

Does it have a straw /swizzle stick holder as well ???

Glad to see Glenn got his problem sorted …. Stephen is a good man.

It's just a shame you can get the odd dunderhead in the back office who gives the club a bad look with a "can not" do attitude. It's probably just a job to them and don't really care if the members are happy. That's why it's always good to refer things up the line rather than just copping it.

I found though that the crappy cooler bag does conveniently take the Balmain Pale Ale 4-pack.

Check out the new official online store for the wests tigers at [www.weststigersshop.com.au](http://www.weststigersshop.com.au). They are now shipping worldwide!

The problem with memberships is that they are associated with seats/tickets.
If they were distinct then:
a) membership could therefore be cheaper and the membership numbers would climb AND
b) there wouldn't be seating complications.

For the record, I was a ticketed member and could not get a reserved seat at Leichhardt. It sucks, so this season I am a non-ticketed member, which also sucks, but it's cheaper and makes more sense. Leichhardt just needs more seats I reckon.
