NRL great and Titans assistant coach Michael Gordon has been stood down by his club after he was charged for alleged involvement in a drug syndicate.

NSW Police announced on Sunday seven people were arrested on Saturday night in the Tweed Heads area in Queensland, following a six month investigation into the supply of MDMA and cocaine on the NSW Far North Coast and south-east Queensland.

The arrests come after a sting operation by strike force investigators executed five search warrants which resulted in cocaine, MDMA, steroids, more than $60,000 cash, mobile phones and drug paraphernalia being seized.

The Courier-Mail first reported Gordon, 37, was arrested at his Casuarina home and charged with two counts of the supply of a prohibited drug and two counts of possessing a prohibited drug.
NSW Police announced in a statement: “A 37-year-old man was arrested at a separate Casuarina home. He was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station and charged with two counts of supply prohibited drug and two counts of possess prohibited drug”.

The Gold Coast Titans reacted immediately on Sunday, announcing Gordon has been stood down and is expected to be investigated by the NRL Integrity Unit.

NRL: David Fifita is getting used to his new surroundings on the Gold Coast as he made the switch to the Titans for the upcoming season.
“Michael has been working on a contract basis, providing specialist coaching services to the club over the past season,” the statement claimed.

“He will not be providing services to the club until further notice. “The club will make no further comment as the issue is now with police”

The former Titans, Cronulla, Parramatta, Roosters and Panthers star retired at the end of the 2019 season before moving into a coaching role at the Titans.

Tweed/Byron Police District Crime Manager, Detective Chief Inspector Brendon Cullen, said the series of arrests come at a crucial time when thousands of school leavers arriving for Schoolies and end-of-year celebrations.

“Byron Bay is one of the busiest places on the east coast of Australia right now, with thousands of schoolies expected to fill coastal towns during the coming weeks,” Cullen said.

“These drugs were bound for our streets, and these arrests will have significantly disrupted the supply chain into the schoolies areas.

“Police will allege in court this syndicate was operating across the border, and we are extremely pleased to be able to put these people before the courts.”

Phew!!! For a second I thought this was a thread for signing flash.
Mate of mine grew up with him and said he’s always been on the gear. So no surprise here.

Surprised it doesn't say Ex Wests Tigers once possible signing arrested

On the news tonight it said that ex Penrith Parramatta and Titans player.
Not one mention of the Roosters or Sharks, I bet if he had played one game for WT the headlines would have said Tiger Star drug dealer.
