Mick Potter has made me PROUD to be a tiger fan again

We were weak under Sheens…..the brand of football we have played this year has made me proud to be a tiger again this year under Potter.
 
Mick Potter the man - Has great integrity and is a very humble and dignified man

Mick Potter the coach - Has done some good things however there are still some things that make me scratch my head.

I think he deserves another year, howver the damage is done we wont get it. He has come through this though as a man of great integrity in the face of a horrible dsyfunction and back stabbing.
 
Mick Potter has made some mistakes and he would be the first to admit to them

He deserves a chance to serve under a board that is remotely normal

I also feel for all the young players in all this They deserve to be able to go out and play footy without all this garbage hanging over their heads

If we can't fix this quickly we will lose the young superstars as well

And where does that leaves us ??
 
You can tell when the players have fulfilled their roles, and telll when they have failed the brief…. whether that reflects on Potter or not is another story... if we fail in attack, well as far as the leaks report, Payten has failed to communicate the intricate plays in the opposition 20... our defence weak, well thats Kidwells department..... Micks job is to rely on the recommendations of the coaches and weigh them against each other, between the two try to find balance.

A coaches job is to surround himself with those most capable of fulfilling their roles...the best coaches have the best below themselves. This is the internationally reknowned system in sports at the highest level.

No matter the brief, the players have failed us more often than the plan.... the preparation is not his domain, but the coaches.

Our club has the firing squad aimed at the wrong targets.
 
the difference is the games we lost under sheens were a lot of close games, games we should have won but inept mental dumb play and stupidity cost us those games (warriors and roosters semi final games)

Our problem now is the close games we win but every game we lose has been by 16+ points all except 1 game because of a blind referee. I guess it can be forgiven because we have so many young players but if Potter is here to say next year if it continues we have to start looking at the coach rather then players.

Just like Sheens after 5 years of no semis it was the sane mistakes even though had a turnerover of players.
 
Whatever the outcome i think that Mick Potter has only been a positive for the Tigers.His detractors will point to selections of players out of position,but we were used to that anyway under Tim Sheens.What we were not used to was winning games such as against the Raiders and Knights that in the past we would probably have lost.I think the writing is on the wall and he will be on his way but should have been given at least another year.I just hope that in a years time we are not calling for the head of the incumbent because he has proved no better than Mick Potter.

Otherwise called the manager.

There is this expectation in the NRL that the coach is responsible for a-z. From sponsorship to who the ballboy will be. Micks job is to form a team and manage it.

so who is responsible for us fighting for top 8 instead of the spoon we were all but favourites for...

Who is responsible for the mid-season sponsorships we have garnered....

if you answer the players, playing to potential.... who governed them into performing potential on the specific days....
 
There is never just one person responsible. It's human nature to create a hero and a villain- everyone has their grey shades.

yeah…. was a bit harsh picking you out.... but a great leader has a team whom he can trust.... top to bottom responsible for both failures and success...

and to me fighting for the 8 is a success,,,
 
This week has given me all the answers I need and I'll put it as simply as I can. The coach is fine. The Player roster is fine. I am confident that this team, under this coach could win the comp.

I am not at all confident in the management structure above the coach. I believe that one or more individuals within that structure is driving an agenda in their own interest that is disruptive and destructive to the club. If the agenda is being driven by someone in the playing roster, someone within the management structure is supporting them or at least not taking action against them.

This destructive agenda is working against my interests. As a stakeholder I am not prepared to continue to invest my time, money and energy into this club/team/brand if it continues. I have recently seen several forum members express similar sentiments. Major sponsors need to know this. The club will not survive without first addressing this issue.

In my book, evidence that a change has occurred will come in an extension of Potters contract. Several other forum members have also called for such an extension recently. NRL experts have expressed incredulity that the club is even considering getting rid of him given the team's performance this year. I am not satisfied with the Board statement yesterday deferring the decision re Potters future until the end of the season. That just allows those driving agendas to bide their time. Forcing the issue by offering Potter a contract extension now could also force those driving agendas out into the open where they can be subjected to fair scrutiny.

Whatever the case, if the club fails to renew Mick Potters contract for next year, I will no longer invest in this brand.
 
It must be hard for a coach to maintain control over a team when you have somelike like Farah to contend with. Robbie is the absolute heart and soul of our team but from an outsiders point of view it looks like his personality is very 'Alpha-male' and he runs the show. You only have to watch a press conference to see that Robbie is like the overbearing Dadthat rules the roost and Potter is the kid walking on eggshells, almost staying in the background and not speaking out of line. Robbie has never come out and said 'Mick is a good coach' which to me seems damning. Potter has never been given a chance at our club and that stinks.
 
I love Potters quote on the so called board meeting. It was to be a decision between Mayer and himself. Onya Mick start revealing what GM is really like.

I thought it was poor form from Phil Gould ambushing Potter at halftime .. Potts looked sick in the stomach .. If I were Potter I'd put one on mayers chin and walk away from this rabble of an establishment .

If the players think he's such a bad communicator, why would guys like Brooks, Moses, Woods, Sironen, Tedesco, Nofoaluma etc all sign on LONG TERM with him?

Potter has done a fantastic job. Wayne Bennett, the master coach, with a decent roster at Newcastle has the team second last. Mick Potter, a rookie coach being paid spare change, with a side of teenagers and second-year NRL players, has the team in and around the Top 8.

I wonder if it's more he's stepping in at the press conference to cover more because he knows it's not Potters forte, and it's more a case of actually taking pressure of and sharing that load?

I think robbie is just ultra protective of his team and has at times lumped Mick in with the other non playing group entities at the club that can't get their shit together. The Coach is the man between the players and management. Think of 'FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS' with the team and the booster club. I think Mick is doing a sound job with a young group of players. Just wish we could sort out our business structure and execs!!
