I agree Tim Sheens had to move on but to put in a rookie coach with a dysfunctional board and a team with "strong" personalities may not have been the right move (understanding he was probably the best from a poor field).
Mate there are only 3 kinds of coaches:
1) the good ones (employed)
2) the rookie ones
3) the ordinary ones (unemployed)
For starters Potter is no rookie, even if he hasn't coached NRL before. The replacements being bandied about - Walters, Barrett, Parish - they are all genuine rookies.
Or you can go find an experienced coach who is currently not a head , see how that goes - Brian Smith, Chris Anderson, Royce Simmons, Peter Sharp, Steve Folkes.
Let's be realistic here - any coach, even the worst ones in the world, need minimum two years to prove their worth. First year to take what they inherited and try to mould it, second year to produce.
We have peanuts to pay a coach with, and Potter took the deal. When Sheensie finally gets paid out end of next year (egads) we can reassess Potter's two-year run and make a decision then.
Guns back in holsters ladies.
