Mid season Report Card - From Fox Sports

The report on us doesn't even make internal sense - we are running fifth (equal third) after a terrible injury run, especially Moltz, and from here on we will have players returning (Fulton, Ayshford, Galloway, maybe Tuiaki) plus McKinnon as a bonus, which ought to mean we will improve.

We'll run 4th, I reckon. Souths and Penrith are the danger sides. St G have no second gear.

Haha.

I love how Daley or whoever wrote it takes a shot at Farah but says nothing about Ennis on the Bulldogs standpoint, instead bagging out their best performer for most of the season in Hannant, who's been injured for the last 4 or so weeks.

The predicted finish should be a little reminder for the Tigers given the past 4 seasons. I agree that Heighno has been the standout forward so far this season, although Ellis has hit his straps in the last few weeks and really looks strong. With some injured personnel to come back, plus the inclusion of McKinnon, and the possibility of some extra grunt and impact in Tame Tupou (depending on form of course), I like the Tigers chances of making the finals this season. There's still plenty of work to be done though and this team has improvement left.

only time will tell, if the half season report card for 2010 pans out to be true.
12 games left to play.
win at least 7( more would be better) this will ensure a top 8 finish.
the team is in control of its own destiny.

Although anything is possible if farah amd marshall fire. A lot will depend on Sheens picking the very best available 17 each week

I agree but these three things haven't happened at the same time all that often.

If it does your right in that we'd have a chance to win the comp.

These things are written by the same people who probably had the Bulldogs and Knights in thier Top 8 at the start of the year…

Haven't heard such crap all day.

Souths THIRD!?!? Yeah BRRRRTTTT!!! It's good old DT and all these other dimwitted news groups who make Souths out to be something that they're obviously not. The 'pride' of the NRL eh? If I here that statement again, there'd better be a toilet nearby, because i think I'll spew.

Lol, what have they got going for them?

1\. Their backline is ordinary and full of 'has beens'

2\. Bar Taylor and Burgess, their pack are full of slobs who have very low work rates

3\. They have done NOTHING in 20 years, what makes these wankers think they'll do something this year

Guys, I don't see what is so exciting about beating a team who played horrible on the given day, then go on to beat one of worst travelling teams in the comp in the cowboys.

Lol, I can't wait to play these nuffies again.

Lol Parra win one game and all of a sudden they're top 4 finishers …

Some journos just give me the .... !

We have the hardest draw in of any team, beat the raiders on sunday week and beat them well my confident levels will rise but really I see us finishing maybe 7th or 8th. Although anything is possible if farah amd marshall fire. A lot will depend on Sheens picking the very best available 17 each week

i like they way our side is heading at the moment. Since the souths debacle we have had two good away wins in the wet, these games we would have lost the last few seasons.

Our draw is tough but that is a good thing. If we find consistency we should still make the top 4.

Our 6 remaining home games are all winnable. Panthers and Gold coast will be a test but I thought we played ok against the Panthers away earlier in the year and I fancy us against the Gold Coast at home. We usually beat the Storm in Sydney and 2 weeks form the end of the season when they have nothing to play for is a great time to be playing them. I think we will end up winning 5 of the home games. I personally see us winning all 4 Leichhardt games and maybe losing to the Panthers at Cambelltown.

Our 6 away games are tough. We will be looking to do the season double over the Eels and Eagles. Playing the Eagles in Gosford is much better than at Brookvale. They team should also fire up for the Dragons and Rabbits games. I can see us winning 3 of the away matches. Toughest away games in my opinion will be the Dragons and Broncos. These two games are back to back and it would be great to win at least 1 of these 2.

So that makes 8 wins form 12 and would leave us on 34 points which should see us in the top 4.

I think you've been very harsh on Souths there.

Yes, Wesser is a has been, but Merritt-Champion-Best-Talanoa is definitely a first grade standard backline, all decent to above average first graders.

Sandow is a very poor halfback, but if his pack is dominant enough, his weakness is masked up. John Sutton is inconsistent, but if the pack can play well, he'll definitely add some more consistency to his game.

Their pack isn't full of slobs by any means. Roy Asotasi is an excellent prop, just a injury prone. Luke Stuart is also great, age is proving no barrier for him. Ben Lowe is also a very solid player.
On the bench they have Pettybourne and Geddes, who'd make the bench at just about every side as well.

Souths hardly have a pack of slobs and I do think they can finish in the top 4\. Not certain, but definitely capable.

That's effective for teams like the Dragons who have Soward. He can kick a ball on a 50c piece from 40m away.

You're right there SCT. The only thing that let us down against Penriff was the amount of ball we dropped. We put contstant pressure on ourselves unnecessarily. Titans are easily beatable away from home. The boys stay high on confidence and don't overplay their hand on the field I reckon we will beat both teams.

Just looking at draw:

Raiders - Liechh - Probable win
Dragons - away - Probable loss
Broncos - away - probable loss
Titans - Camp - 50/50
Cowboys - Leichh - probable win
Eagles - Bluetongue - 50/50
Sharks - Leichh - Probable win
Rabbits - ANZ - 50/50
Penrith - Camp - Probable loss - historically
Eels - away - probable loss - again historically
Storm - Leichh - 50/50
Titans - away - 50/50

So i have it at
3 probable win
5 - 50/50 matches
4 probable losses.

IMO - Optimistically - 3 wins + 3 of 50/50 + 1 upset win = 7 wins from 12

at present 16 points + 2 for bye + 14 = 32 points -

5th or 6th

the 5 - 50/50 matches will determine whether we come 5th or 9th

Im with u..in Asotasi,Burgess,Taylor & Crockett theyve got 4 of the best forwards going around, plus a few other heavyweights too,& the backs are maturing quite impressively apart from Wesser.
If lang can get more consistency out of them.particularly the two halves who are notoriously hot & cold, they cld give it a shake.
Put it this way-IF they made the GF,they'd be the more feared than just about any other team (outside Storm)..cld do some real damage

The Wests Tigers have a very hard draw , and those 2 losses earlier against the Roosters in the last minute & against the Ref & the Bulldogs in Rd 6 or so hopefully won't come back to haunt us.At the start of the season I put my money on a Souths vs Tigers GF , but that massive defeat at the SCG has still got me worried … Our team still has to be contenders to get my confidence back. Also the setbacks of losing Moltzen & TNT for most of the season , has weaken our chances of a top 4 berth.
They have to come out firing after this Bye and beat the Raiders , and beat the Dragons and then the season will start kicking again like 05, when that Dragons win mid season back them got it all starting

Souths have a very strong pack mate….have you already forgotten how they reduced our team to a dribbling rabble a month ago?
Make no bones about it - they can play - they will have a good year.

On our blokes I agree with the assessment thus far. Plenty of blokes to return and plenty of improvement to be had....thats what the back half of the season is for and thats where we'll shine.

Lol, I can't wait to play these nuffies again.

We must win all remaining home games. That Titans game at Campbelltown and the Storm game are must win. We shouldn't be losing to the Titans we do this too often and it always costs us. The Storm will have there minds on an off season beer and trip by R25\. A big Leichhardt crowd for the last home game should help. And I am sick of losing to Penrith. Surely we are due to do something against them. We must get the points against Raiders next week or it will get harder and harder as we go along.
