Sydney Roosters NRL halfback Mitchell Pearce has been arrested after an early morning incident outside a Kings Cross nightclub.

Police spoke to 25-year-old Pearce inside a Roslyn St club about 1.30am on Sunday after receiving a complaint about him and he was escorted outside by security.

He was arrested outside after allegedly becoming argumentative and refusing to leave the area.

He was taken to Kings Cross police station where he was issued with an infringement notice and an order banning him from the area for 48 hours.

It's understood Pearce is facing a fine.

Incumbent halfback Pearce was seen as a certain selection for the NSW team in State of Origin series which starts on May 28 and it remains to be seen what effect the Kings Cross incident has on those chances.

He had helped spark premiers the Roosters to a 30-6 NRL win against Wests Tigers on Friday night.

Cool does this mean NSW will have to choose a new halfback? What a shame

Daddy Junior won't be happy with young Mitch, he was always such a clean skin lol.

Lets hope so!!! With Pearce hopefully out we might actually see Farah playing only Hooker and not Hooker/Half back/ 5/8\. :righton: :wahoo:

I don't mind Pearce. He tries hard, puts his body on the line in defense and has a good kicking game but still cops so much from the fans.

Hope for the sake of NRL that Mitch wasn't at fault.

He should be dropped. Blake Ferguson received the same treatment.

Blake Ferguson was dropped following an indecent assault charge. Mitchell Pearce just copped a fine for arguing with a bouncer. Not even on the same page.

A lot more to it than just an argument with a bouncer apparently, according to channel nine news.

Channel 9 just portrayed it as a very similar incident…

Ch9 just said apparently some woman went straight to the cops and pointed Mitch out for doing something on the dance floor.

Yeah heard there is more to this than just a verbal.

lets just say, he might need to keep his "digits" to himself….

Haha when you mentioned digits I thought he was boasting about his salary.

What's the bet it was from a blues fan telling him he shouldn't make the team.

According to an article on ninemsn:

It wasn't the first trouble 25-year-old Pearce encountered that night.
>
He and his NSW Origin and Roosters teammate Boyd Cordner were asked to leave the Clovelly Hotel about 10.30pm on Saturday after allegedly becoming aggressive with security staff.
>
Several other Roosters players were also asked to leave as a result and it's understood Pearce and Cordner were told they're not welcome to return.

When will these guys learn?
