Moltzen Staying Or Going

i dont think tim will be going to the dragons now, even if he did his heart wouldnt be in it after the circus thats been created now.

is the $400k amount the dragons want and nothing else? surely this is only a starting offer and they will negotiate from there, but $400k is too much. i'd drop about half that money for him but wouldnt go any higher.

Last i heard is that he's now happy to go and has put an offer on a house in wollongong.

Funny, was told the same thing just recently.
Perhaps he is just making sure of his options - fair enough

I hope it's true. Moltzen has a lot of unfinished business at the Tigers. I think a lot of you have forgotten his '09 form BEFORE he had a season ending injury. If he stays, his combo with Benji will only grow.

I think at the end of the day if the Dragons know Moltzen doesn't really want to be with them they won't bother letting him join them if he's only going to do a half-hearted job. He only signed at the Dragons because he was told to look elsewhere and was taking care of his future - otherwise he would have resigned with us.

It depends on how badly he wants out. If its just nerves and uncertainty, Dragons might opt to hold his hand for the first 6 months to get him through. If he is dead against it and wants out at all costs, Dragons would be stupid to not take some compo and let him out.

One of the reasons the club started telling key players to look elsewhere was to sign a bunch of young guys like woods and groat, and secure guys like Ayshford and Lui long term. I have a slight suspicion that since the dramas happened with Lui, the club may have some extra cash in the cap that they can now afford Moltzen?

Not trying to speculate on what will happen with Lui and sorry to mods if it's breached any forum rules.

He never wanted to go. So I don't see the problem with him coming back. He signed and if st George agree it's a new deal. Tim isn't doing wrong.

As I said. Bring on 2012.

I dont think there would be a meeting if it wasn't going to happen. If It wasn't dragons would just say no, he isn't going anywhere. The fact that there is a meeting I think means that they are just sorting out the details of the release.

Feels unethical to me. Do deals and contracts mean anything to anybody anymore?

Depends if both parties agree. If Saints don't want to release him, they don't have to.

No doubt they will get a payment out of it if it happens.

Anyone remember Moltzen's contract situation midyear? Did we release him to them, or just a clause for another year wasn't activated by either party?

We released him. He wanted to stay.

Club Statement Regarding Moltzen Signing
5/10/2011 6:51:10 PM

St George Illawarra Dragons CEO Peter Doust On Wednesday issued the following regarding the signing of Tim Moltzen:

"Tim Moltzen and his Manager have signed a three-year deal with the Dragons," said Doust.

"We have not had any conversations or received any other information from either Tim or his Manager that would suggest he would not be at the Dragons in 2012."

When you sign a contract you have to stick to it.

if both parties agree then whats the problem? by your analogy every contract that is signed should be honoured from start to finish, meaning that no club should ever release a player mid-contract. or a player should never seek a release

So Petey Doust says they haven't heard anything about it?

Aren't both clubs currently in meetings about it?
