Moltzen Staying Or Going

The only explanation i can draw from all this is that Carney will most likely be playing Halfback in 2012.
There's no way they will keep Lui after all of his off field shenanigans regardless of the outcome in court, whilst it does seem a little hypocritical sacking one player for off field dramas to sign one who was sacked for the same reason. Having said that Carney didnt assault his girlfriend.

Probably because he was too drunk to assault his girlfriend Fraze

We'll all be happy he is a dragon when he bombs his first try, drops a bomb or is woefully out of position.
We gave him permission to negotiate, we should honour it and release him.

I will explain it to you. The FIB told Martin TAUBER that Moltzen is not in the Fonz's plans for 2012 and to find him a new club.

TAUBER gets a deal happening with Saints Illawarra and Moltz signs on the dotted line.

Benji finds out and goes nuts, wants answers.

The FIB goes into damage control (or BS control) to alleviate huge unrest amongst players and spins some spit and says that Moltz had not been officially released. (Yet !!! ). Well it was too late because the ship had well and truly hit the sand.

Tauber flies back into the country this week and approaches the FIB and asks him which part of the comment 'Moltzen is not in our plans and find him another club in 2012' he must of misunderstod when he organised the contract with Saints Illawarra.

The FIB then crawled into his little black and orange shell in the fetal position and resumed sucking his thumb

End of story.

What a joke, I wasnt impressed when we pulled the stunt in not letting him go, and less impressed we just backflip after all this trouble.

The club looks like a bunch of nuffies who have no idea what they are doing. I feel the same way I did in the middle of the season, is there any cohesion or unified view on our future? The last 12 months the public perception seems to be we are running around like a bunch of chickens with our heads cut off.

If we didn't need, or had no plans for Moltzen then we shouldn't have grandstanded in the press.

We look like amateurs.

(yes we don't know the facts and shouldn't comment etc)

Yeah but Bug there is a 3 month time line break between Moltzen signing with Saints and now

How would causing all this trouble help

Benji must of guessed when Moltzen starting packing his gear ,looking for a new house, telling him he would need to find a new housemate etc that he was going

Why would you drop Lui on the basis of off-field indiscretions only to replace him with Carney???

There is definitely some rumors of Carney to the Gold Coast. Maybe we have picked up Prince?

Yeah as i said in a previous thread signing Carney is slightly confusing when you already have a six and seven (Henry and Prince) Maybe its Beau Henry getting released ???

the taniela tuaki loss was more significant. we've survived without him, the only difference being, would we have lost to st.george illawarra in 2010 and Warriors in 2011 if taniela was on the wing. the same thing cant be said of moltzen (yet?????????)

Anyway good luck to Moltzen. I hope the scott prince rumour gets bigger over the summer of his supposedly unhappiness at gold coast and the carney signing. He still has a Wests Tigers tattoo, that must give us some chance.

So maybe we kicked up this stink to get some compensation from the Dragons…

This undisclosed amount of compensation could be used to entice a player that is able to replace Molten..my first thought is Carney. But then the possibility of Lui being sacked brings another player to mind. This player being Prince..

I would be happy with either, providing certain measures are taken to ensure Carney's behaviour (if he is who we have our eye on).

However, we get this compensation from Saints, is it able to be used how I have said? Or is it not allowed to go towards player payments?

That's… quite a stretch. The team makeup would be significantly different if Taniela had an injury free 2010 and 2011.

You would have no Mitch Brown, No Beau Ryan, no Matt Utai, No introduction to FG for Simona.

Beau Ryan may have had the odd clanger, but he has found career best form towards the end of 2011 - where Mitch brown found brilliant form leading into the end of 2010, and was ever dependable again in 2011\. Utai turned back the clock for us in a lot of his games, and was reliable as well. Moral of all this is that when players are grounded others can step up in their place.

Put it to you like this - We would never have seen the rise and rise of Blake Ayshford if Collis hadn't been injured in 2008 - and now he is an integral part of our side, where Collis struggled to get a run for the Sharkies since his departure. I can't imagine our backline without Ayshford in it now!

Im not saying any of these guys are better than Taniela was in his prime - however we may not have seen the same Taniela if he had made it back on the park - much like Moltzens return this year to the team.

Humpty deserves a 10 for such a perfectly executed backflip

This saga has more twists than a pretzel - can't wait to see the final outcome - will Lui be staying? Has Carney agreed to terms? Cherry- Evans walks out on Manly after Hasler leaves and joins Tigers? Cronk misses former teamate Blair and begs to join at him at WT?

DCE or Cronk, im sure I could handle either of those in the Tigers jersey

It's nice to dream Goose. If we ever picked one of those two up though, Humphreys and Sheens would want to probably think about dousing the filing cabinet with a gallon of zoom 25 and put a match to it, cause I guarantee Ian "Easts are exempt from the cap" Schubert would be kicking the front door of Concord down.

They also have a few promising juniors alongside those 2 .. and Srama can play halfback.

Well if we sign Carney there'd be a good chance of losing Miller. I was told that was a main reason Miller left the chooks in the first place.

At least if we sign Prince there will be incentive for Miller to stay because that would be short term and he can learn plenty in the meantime.

I think the players welfare needs to be considered here. Obviously Tim was given permission to negotiate.
Some questions need to be answered.
Did WT want him to go whatever the reason? (salary cap or didnt think he was going kick on)
Why did Humphries make a statement after Dragons announced the signing?
Why did WT hold on to the release papers?
Why did Humphries make a statement regarding the rumour of Moltzen staying at WT?
Does WT want to keep him now? (assuming the ball is in their court)
Has the Lui incident had anything to do with WT decision to try and keep him?
Do the Dragons still want him?
Where does Tim want to play?

Like I said we need to consider the welfare and state of mind of the player. I really feel sorry for Tim. I dont think he wanted to leave. So if WT want him to stay and he can legally stay despite signing a contract with the Dragons what will happen? Who makes the decision?

Perhaps it should come down to the player himself.

Sadly, 100% true.

I have a mate who is a muso in sydney and he told me on friday that he has a very good contact who told him the tigers had signed Todd Carney for 3 years. I told him that i didnt believe him as I had also heard Carney was going to the shrarks, rabbitohs and the titans. I also said why would we be trying to get moltzen back if we had signed Carney?! Then after i thought about it I thought that his contact might have said "Titans"and my mate mis-heard him, very similar. Then i wake up this morning to hear that we are happy for Moltzen to go to the dragons…hmm. The merry go round continues!!!
