@happy tiger said:And would any of us want our kids or teenagers reading about this and then trying to access this movie on the net That is why I said what I said previously
We ban people for swearing and whatever else but we talk about watching this
No double standards imo MODS
@stryker said:No I wouldnt it's an R rated film and they should not see it. However I watched many 'R's when underage as I am sure most of us have done. It is not my job to police what strangers do. It is not my problem and I have no obligations at all. If they want to see it they'll see it. In this day and age nothing you can do will stop them.
Happy I am not a politically correct person. Infact I fight against it. The people who make these types of horror movies are not afraid to show things how they think they really are. They go for realism and thats what offends people. Do you know what offends me? Those that say you 'should, must or have to' do something. As long as I am operating within the boundaries of the law then no mate, I DO NOT. There are many commercial films out there that contain very poor messages and are lauded by the public.
Take this film for example:
A depressed young girl moves to a new town and falls in love with a vampire. Vampire ultimately rejects her and she spirals into self loathing and suicidal tendancies. If they can not be together, she would rather be dead. She then falls for a werewolf and uses him in a callous way to reunite with the vampire which she does. Not wanting to lose the vampire again, she pleads and begs him to kill her and transform her, giving little concern to her family and friends who will be heartbroken. He does this due to her giving birth to a mutant humanoid who is eating her way out of the womb and killing her. When the baby is born, the werewolf falls in love with it.
Sound familiar? Thats the plot of Twilight, a book and film series aimed squarely at 12 year old girls. It has grossed over 2 Billion dollars globally not counting the final yet to be released movie and the books.
This is a movie thread and this film in its cut version was theatrically released and is commercially available and has been for more than a year. You dont have to go to some dark and dingy website to get it. The subject matter is aweful I agree, but we havent discussed anything on here explicitly. You are offended and so you should be. You are supposed to be. But using that anger to stifle others is not on in my book.
