Moving WT to Campbelltown

Campbelltown would be a bad idea imo.
We need to set up in a location that would be attractive to players we may wish to sign. That's where the Roosters have got it so good.
I think we need to stay in the inner west.

Yes we are leaving concord and yes this topic has been discussed A LOT in the past. Search is your friend…!

Campbo is possible but doubtful. Something a bit more central is more likely.

Can't we relocate to somewhere interesting e.g. Maroubra, Brighton or Terigal, surely this would be more appealing to players?

Hopefully a move to Cambo is on the cards.

I understand your view but I think it would be very hard to attract top notch players if Cambo was the base.Ideally would love to share the new Maroubra facility with the bunnies.players love living near the beaches/city.

Geez there is a lot of rubbish sprouted on this forum - do the Penrith, Parramatta, Canterbury and Canberra squads all live near the ocean or inner city - I think not - footballers have a 10 year window of opportunity to set themselves up for life. The majority of them will go to where they have the best opportunity of playing 1st grade, earning good money, being coached well in order to improve their game and hopefully being successful. Not all footballers are like SBW and can swan around drinking lattes all day.

Who says just because they would be based in Ctown means they'd have to live there? Thats one of the biggest cop outs i've read on here in a while. Jamal Idris lives with his mum at Regents Park, and Josh Mansour lives in inner Sydney, a long way from Penrith, and Penrith is even more remote than Ctown is.

And Lol at basing ourselves in a beach side community. I'm sure we'd all love to work near the beach. Get real, they're professional athletes, they're not going to work just cos they can laze by the beach at lunch time. If anything the club would be sending the wrong message doing something like that.

@Jerry,money plays an important part,if they get top dollar and want to play in the NRL they will play anywhere in the country to achieve their goal, granted a very good location would help.
As far as Campbelltown goes I think it has massive potential for players and supporters,I live about an hour from there but have family there and I think it is a great place to go,the atmosphere at the stadium is great and most of the people are terrific,it is also family friendly and this is what the NRL has to strive for..

ANZ Stadium most likely both centrally and financially. It served Souths and Bulldogs well this year.

The area is no worse than Penrith or Parramatta or the Dogs area. There's good and bad everywhere. Have if you ever heard of players turning down Penrith or Parramatta because they don't want to live in the area?

the dogs' club has a great history and as gus said, the club is built on a 'winning culture' unlike WT. parra is more of a city now than a suburb imo and penrith was just as bad as us before gus and co.

i've said this a few times and the reason we struggle right now is because we have no identity. before, when someone says WT, people used to think of flamboyance, benji and off the cuff style of play- there needs to be a drawing card for players, sponsors and fans.

we all know how much development is gonna go down in the south west… but i think for the time being, we need to think short term and base ourselves somewhere in the inner west.

we can engage the south west area through player meet ups and the campbo games as long as we're winning.

Really, what is the point of threads like this? Other than trolling??

I saw the heading and thought for half a second "has something official been announced?". Nope, so just more fuel for the fire of people who can't let go of something that died 15 years ago…

It doesnt matter where they live, what matters is a bloke on $500k sitting on the M5 in traffic 5 days a week.

IMHO the reality is if we are ever going to go all in on one ground it will be the one with the most guaranteed income. That ground is ANZ Stadium

Good idea, set up cost would have to be cheaper and I would imagine more players live and have their roots closer to Campbeltown than the inner west.

Also for the player who dosn't like the big smoke theirs the appeal of the Southern Highlands just down the road.Really its a no brainer and that is coming from a bloke who has lived in the inner west for forty years.

Its the old story you have to take the circus to the people not bring the people to the circus

And how have Penrith and Canberra gone at attracting top talent for the most part in the last 15 years.Fittler, lewis and Jennings(to easts and cronulla?mmm)are but three of a long list for Penrith while Canberra(Blake ferguson when he was good and dugan)to saints are but two recent examples.Canberras last quality import was Mal Meninga and penrith always get the scraps(this year was great for them recruitment wise but soward was considered washed up and Idris was a massive risk first good buys in 15 years for panthers).Im not saying I agree with the players refusing to play in the outer suburbs/Canberra but the dislike for living in these areas for rich footballers is very real. With Parra and Canterbury the players live east of these areas its really not far to training and to city/beaches(strathfield etc).Love it or hate it the Canberras and the Panthers of the world have REPEATEDLY said over the last 15 years that they have problems signing top talent as the players dont want to live in those areas.

You call 10 minutes travel to work compared to 1hr and ten minutes a cop out?
